Bangkok Airways

I have to fly from Chiang Mai to Bangkok to connect with an AF flight next week. Everyone here looks at me rather strangely and asks why I didn't book with Thai (because Expedia couldn't get me onto Thai). Does anyone know anything about Bangkok airways, in particular, what is their punctuality like?

Thanks

Flew with Bangkok Airways last year from Bangkok to Koh Samui. Am using them again this xmas.

Good equipment, punctual with friendly staff. Safety standards are as good as any other commuter airline I have been on and better than many in that region.

You should have no problems at all hopefully.:)

I've flown with them several times now from BKK to Phuket and Samui... had excellent service and flights each time. Variety of aircraft.... B717, ATR42, Airbus 320. They've just hiked their price BKK to Samui though by 20%. Punctuality was good apart from Phuket to BKK which was dealyed by 30 mins but I reckon this had more to do with the new airport in BKK than the airline.

I was amazed to get a hot meal on the short BKK- Phuket legs but they managed and it was pretty tasty as well.

I had several flights from and to BKK with Bangkok Air (Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Siem Reap), and they were almost always on time, very friendly and i felt safe, so you shouldn't expect any problems....

An additional benefit of flying Bangkok Airways is that they have their own lounge, which all passengers can use (at least they did at Don Muang, don't know about the new airport). I thought they were very good.

I'd second the above - they're fine, nothing to worry about.

Only downside was that - at least a couple of years ago - their 717 had the tightest seat pitch I think I've ever experienced. If there hadn't been a free seat beside me I just wouldn't have fitted.

They no longer have their own lounge at the new airport (well, I couldn't find it anyway) but at the gate they have a bar serving coffee, juice and cakes FOC for passengers with them that day. Nice touch.

PG is generally a very good airline. One downside on the CNX-BKK routing though is that most of the flights stop at Sukhothai, which makes for a rather long journey.

In my experience, they are good. I have used them, and NOK air on internal routes in Thailand, having been let down by Air Asia on two consecutive flights. Cheap as chips too !

Do they still fly CNX to Sukhothai? Tried getting a flight there from CNX and their website indicates no flights. When I went to a travel agent he also ended up scratching his head, then indicated that they now only had service between Sukhotai and Bangkok.

My apologies: under the new schedule, the morning BKK-CNX flight stops at Sukhothai, CNX-BKK is now direct.

Thanks folks, this is really helpful.

It's been a long ten days (am I the only person who came out here to work?) and I'm looking forward to getting home.

We used Bangkok Airways earlier this year to fly from BKK to Siem Reap & they fully deserve all the praise. We arrived on time from AMS our booked connection was in 7 hours as that was the only available flight when we booked, at the transfer desk we enquired if there was any earlier availability, we could get one in 3 hours no extra charge & whilst they rebooked the flight telephoned through to baggage to get the bags retagged.

On the return the flight had an inbound delay we were connecting to TG to fly to Krabi, once we got off the bus from the remote stand they had people there to escort you through VIP immigration, to the baggage reclaim, they phoned TG to say we were on our way & wanted to escorted us from international to domestic terminals. As we knew were to go we thanked them & went on our own. When we got to the TG check in they were waiting for us.

Very hard to beat that service level.

Very good service! They had a nice lounge open to all passengers at CNX and gave us a decent meal on the flight. Can't find a thing to grumble about!

Thanks for the advice folks, you were all right.
