Help getting to Canada

I am posting this on behalf of a friend:

I am looking for some help and advice please.
My partner and I are going to Canada for 4 weeks in December (2004).
We are currently searching for the best flight (only) deal.
We are based in Lancaster and ideally, we would like to fly from Manchester.
The problems we are facing are finding an operator and route at a good price, and, getting to the departure point (2 of us and luggage). Be very grateful for any advice.

Can you supply departure and return dates and destination in Canada. ( it's bloody big you know! )

I would check out -

Thanks Tony,

Hope to depart around the 18th of Dec (+/- 5 days) and returning on the 8th of Jan (+/- 4 days).
The destination must be TORONTO.
Cheers.

Travelling over Christmas there are no 'cheap' flights left, people book 6 months in advance. The only direct flights in the winter are charters, try Globespan who have flights direct from Manchester in December, the fares start at about £375. For scheduled flights the only way to Toronto is via an intermediate point, the cheapest appears to be LH via Germany around £440, BA appears to be twice that price.

Try Zoom
They'll'll have to get to Glasgow but they have availability departing Dec 12 returning Jan 11 at £646 return, including taxes, for two.
That's got to be worth the drive up?
My mother-in-law is a regular on the route and has had no problems. Upgrades (at a cost) may be available too.
