One CEO says he has 'solved the elbow wars' on passenger airplanes

I suspect that he has not ...!
The dreaded middle airplane seat is about to come with a silver lining. On 50 mystery passenger planes, set for delivery in 2020, middle seat passengers will get their own arm rest space, plus about two more inches of seat width compared to their right and left row mates.

I believe he's signed up for some remedial maths lessons:

“For Frontier Airlines, half of its seats are at a shorter pitch, which is the front to back legroom. So half of the aircraft is shorter by an inch. Over the whole length of the aircraft, they’d probably end up with one extra seat out of the 10 to 20 rows that have a shorter pitch.”

Staggering the central of 3 commercial aircraft passenger seats was also just in the news somewhere. (One of the show cars or super-cars did this a few years back, w/ the driver forward in the center...and more staggered than the aircraft proposal. Lotus? McClaren? )

I think it's 'Anything to catch a headline' and if they think they can sell the 'less fuel' then the airlines will listen. Maybe not for long but they will listen.

Found this image on Molon's website. Resolves the clashed elbows but still looks a bit too close for comfort.

There's the matter of elbow room, but maybe also something like territorial status? How about shifting the center seat forward instead? Noting other considerations-- how that seat is used, such as a child with parent(s). And ergonomics of the two outboard passengers getting to and from the aisle.
