ATR-72 go-around at Valencia

Was pax on flight UX4007 Palma-VLC this morning. Go-around was initiated as we crossed threshold on approach. Announcement a couple of minutes later (in Spanish) that another aircraft was on the runway? Uneventful landing 5 minutes later after a quick circuit.

Likely the preceding traffic a bit slow to vacate. A non-event that happens once or twice a day on every bigger airport.

As we passed the terminal on the downwind leg following the GA a TAP aircraft was taxying past it so must have used the full length of the runway, as we did.
Quite often the A-32x I usually get turns off at the mid-point exit straight in to the terminal area. I didn't note the wind on this occasion, it was probably very light.
Perhaps it was just being sat close to the ground in the ATR but it did appear to taxi very fast compared to the larger aircraft I usually fly in, until we got behind the "Follow me" truck which was very sedate!

EVERY (powered) approach is ostensibly to a missed-approach or go-around. The landing is a bonus...

For example, Heathrow gets around 10 a week on average.

For Talkdownman, I have actually practiced go-arounds in gliders at hilltop sites such as Long Mynd where it is possible to land and roll safely over the edge to become airborne again, given the right conditions. I have also done go-arounds in motor-gliders, Strikemasters and Varsities while doing GCA and ILS calibrations on the latter. I have also been fortunate enough to fly in the jump seat on several occasions during my career as an avionics engineer.
Having made several hundred flights on passenger aircraft, I can only recall having gone around twice, both times at Valencia, the previous occasion being for a change of runway direction following severe turbulence on the initial approach.

They are/were due to start this month.

That might make a difference!!
Hard to say what effect, if any, it will have on the number of GAs.
