Airport Parking

I understand that if you book your parking early you can get it substancially cheaper.

What is the latest time to book in order to get the best discount?

Thanks

Not quite what you are asking, but even as late as the night before booking on line beats the price of just turning up. Saved £9 on a 3 day booking last week at Gatwick. Last year I booked some parking at Gatwick very early and a few weeks later saw the price had come down. I contacted the company and got a refund. Looks like there are no real rules about when is best.

I'm flying from Gatwick South in July. I looked at the web yesterday and the price for 2 weeks was £52 which I thought very reasonable.

Its just that £50 is better in my account if I can get the same price a month before I go.

The last time I booked airport parking which was just before Christmas, I didn't pay for it until the day I used the car park anyway. If you book now I wouldn't have thought you would pay now.

Be careful, as some parking companies raise their prices as the holiday season approaches and spaces are booked. A great price checker for Gatwick airport parking is: http://www.gatwickinformation.co.uk/...ce-checker.php

I know this is not much use to you, but I include anyway, if only to highlight just what a rip off London's airports are.

At Bangkok's new airport, the daily rate for short term parking, with no limit on the number of days, is Stg3.50, which gets you a space within 100m of the terminal. The long term rate is Stg2 per day (with a maximum of Stg8.60 per month), but that is 2km away.

In Singapore, the short term rate is Stg5.35 per day (SDG15).

I don't think it highlights anything. Remember that the average wage in Thailand is quite a bit lower than it is in London. It is nice as a Westerner to be able to go there and enjoy a cheap trip because of the exchange rate not tallying with this, but it is also very unfair to the people in that country.

I agree that airport parking is a rip-off, which is one reason why I mostly travel by public transport to/from airports whenever possible. However, I don't think you can judge it based on other countries unless those other countries are in Western Europe, the US or anywhere else I missed which is on a similar economic footing.
