Angry People shipping themselves around again

This is BS. It is going to wreck it for all of us if they put huge requirements on shipped packages being opened/inspected before they are loaded.

Devil

Freight is screened in the UK already, no big deal....

If they fry an idiot who's hiding inside one of packages, so much the better.

And what another beautiful example of the effectiveness of the INS or CBP or whatever they call the collective of twenty seven different agencies supposedly guarding the borders of the US.

I live in a town on the US - Canadian border, if there is any trouble with anyone breaking the law - like drug smuggling - they call the local city police to cart the suspects off to jail, surely CBP have powers of arrest ? The article didn't say whether the woman was a documented or non-documented immigrant or US citizen, but surely stowing away is illegal ????

Which government official was it who went on record yesterday as saying "we're looking at aviation security not only from a security defence point of view but also as a way to intercept potential terrorists as they travel around" ? Jeeze..... wow how I feel safe in the hands of the Federal government, whom as 747FOCAL says, will follow the usual knee-jerk, shoot-from-the-hip, politically correct and ineffective but none-the-less annoying measures to prevent this.

It's good to sound off once in a while.

Yep, and being a Cuban who made it illegally to U.S. soil, she's awarded with a coveted green card under current U.S. policy:

"...Although stowaways from other countries might have been stamped "return to sender," the woman's status as a Cuban national means she will stay in the United States, where under federal policy, Cubans who make it to land generally are allowed to stay...

EMBARKING ON A NEW LIFE

• Next step: The woman was taken to the Krome detention center in southwest Miami-Dade County on Wednesday afternoon. She will be released into the community, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Barbara Gonzalez. "

Ironically, the U.S. citizen who pulled a similar stunt from JFK to DFW got four months home incarceration and a $1500 fine for his efforts.

I hope some of the future attempts aren't Mexicans in my baby bird...

Cargo has no environmental controls. A few hours at -45C should pretty much cancel any decisions about the need for a green card.

Are your cargo compartments not heated ? The Boeing's I operated would keep the cargo compartment at about +11C, that said, the people that climb into wheel wells usually end up in a block of ice embedded into the terrain, about five miles upwind from the end of the landing runway (Or three miles if you have to do the sporty EWR "170 to 3" approach ! Haven't operated into EWR for about six years is that still the case ?).
