Beware The Golden Girls!!!!!

BOSTON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Actress Bea Arthur set off a security scare at Boston airport this week when she tried to board with a pocketknife in her handbag, it was reported Wednesday.

The 81-year-old star of TV's "Golden Girls" was about to board a Cape Air flight when a security agent found the article in her belongings, World Entertainment News Network reported.

A fellow passenger said: "She started yelling that it wasn't hers and said 'The terrorists put it there.' She kept yelling about the 'terrorists, the terrorists, the terrorists.'"

After the knife was confiscated, Arthur pulled a key ring from her bag and told the agent it belonged to the "terrorists," before throwing it at them.

"Miss Arthur was cracking jokes and was a real character," a Cape Air spokeswoman told WENN.

If a non-celebrity made jokes at security about terrorists putting items in their luggage would that be an amusing comedy skit too?

I'll bet that if she wasnt an american celebrity she would have got the rubber glove treatment.
I got very completely searched (all bar the rubber glove, but he was eyeing me up) in San Fran for having too many stamps in my passport. Took three and a half hours.

You hit the nail on the head. I travel a few times a year outside the U.S. and do all possible to not connect within the U.S.
I still have not forgotten TSA and their complete idiotic power trip over my transportation of brand new unfueled Zippos in my luggage...Another Story.
I just returned from Africa via London and had no problem until transfering in Los Angeles for las Vegas. TSA went through my bags spilling things all over the place just to see if a six bottle box of wine were not 40mm Anti Aircraft rounds. Opened up right around the corner and I was able to peek and see my things going all over the floor because the guy did not know that folks put items in both halves of a suitcase.........
But back to the Topic. If it was anyone other than a "notable personality" I can almost guarantee someone would have been escorted in for a lengthy interview.
You want to start a new thread on how TSA can screw a Pilot........Information is out there and it scares me to think that this can happen in the U.S.

Some of this reminds of arriving at Washington Dulles...
Got pulled over for a "random bag check", stood in a line for 1.5 hours (after already waiting an hour at immigration). 6 staff doing the random checks, but no more than 3 ever actually doing anything other than sit and talk to each other, the other 3 spent about 70% of their time just talking, and occasionally checking sometimes bag, hence a line full of people missing connecting flights.
Now, before all the replies...I know the US has to defend itself (obviously), the problem isn't that the security is done, the problem is the level of rudeness and general bad attitude employed by a not inconsiderable percentage of the first people you meet on arrival. Which is a shame, because the country is by and large very nice, not a good advert.
