Another air rage diversion to Shannon - AA New York-London
The 10 am RTE Radio News has just had a report of an American Airlines flight from New York to London diverting to Shannon around 6 am this morning. Two people are being brought before Ennis District Court in relation to air rage incidents aboard the AA flight.

They should also face criminal damage charges as the aircraft had to have two seats blocked out on it's return leg back to Chicago, because the bellends that were offloaded decided to pull down the overhead P.S.U. and wreck it, rendering the Pax O2 unuseable for the seats.

The American Airlines passenger jet was diverted to Shannon airport at 6 O`Clock this morning following the incident on board the flight.
The men in their early 40`s were removed from the plane by customs officials and taken to Shannon Garda station for questioning
They`re due to face four counts of assault on members of the cabin crew as well as charges of criminal damage when they appear before Ennis District Court this afternoon.
The court began sitting at 11 O` Clock this morning before Judge Joeseph Mangan but so far the two accused have no appeared.

Last Friday a Canaries bound flight from Belfast was diverted there last when a 48 year Antrim man engaged in threatening and abusive behaviour on board a flight
Michael McCallion received a suspended 3 month sentence and was fined almost 2000 euro after appearing before Judge Mangan at Tulla District Court on Tuesday.
Lock 'em up for ever, castrate them, do unspeakable things to 'em.

It makes you wonder wether these peole have any brains at all doen't it?
Not only do they cause mayhem on a flight, assault the crew, force a diversion, they then fail to show in the courtroom!? Does ANYONE know where these guys are, as I presume being Canadian Nationals, they won't have a visa to stay in Ireland?
Let's make them not only pay for the damage to the hardware, but also the cost of the diversion shall we? I mean, if I called up an airline with a bomb threat and forced a diversion, I'd go to jail wouldn't I?

I may be mistaken, but I dont think Canadian Nationals need a visa for a stay in Ireland not exceeding 90 days.. anyway, thats neither here nor there.. real point is that I want to see the Irish courts make a very big deal out of this...
By virtue of the fact that we lie on Europe's western extremity, we'll be first port of call for a diversion eastbound, or last chance before the ocean on westbound. We'll see proportionally more of these diversions. I think Ireland then has a responsibility to lead by example and come down hard on this kind of behaviour. The suspended sentences handed down to date have been a complete joke. The 1700 Euro fine issued last week was a step in the right direction though.. he'll think twice next time!

They were in the cells all along. And have been refused bail. Remanded in custody until Monday.

As a side note, it was the same judge who sentenced the chap removed from the Belfast flight a few days previously... I guess he's getting pretty pi$$ed off of air rage at this stage..
Although I think someone needs to see the inside of an Irish prison for these kinds of offences, I must say that is some whopper of a fine... good on him! and may it continue until this nonsense is a thing of the past!

Thanks in large part to the teamwork of AA's customer service, flight service, flight and security teams, two Canadian citizens who caused an April 22 disruption on Flight 122 JFK-LHR have been dealt with appropriately in an Irish court of law.
Warren Clamen and Guy Saint Arnaud were sentenced for various counts of assault and criminal damage and were banned from flying on any airline for two years, except to return to the U.S. American, Aer Lingus, Continental and BA are banning them even from the return flight. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is refusing entry into the U.S.
In addition to significant fines, the two have been ordered to pay full restitution to American in the amount of 19,808.88 euros.
Tom Kennedy of the Shannon Police Department confirmed that Clamen was sentenced on three charges of assault and one charge of threatening behavior and paid fines of 18,200 euros in penalty and to avoid a prison sentence.
Kennedy said that Saint Arnaud was sentenced on two assault charges, one charge of threatening behavior and one charge of criminal damage and paid fines of 17,550 euros.
Clamen and Saint Arnaud are appealing the flying ban; the appeal will cost them each an additional 5,000 euro.
Both were also ordered to "keep the peace for two years."
Clamen and Saint Arnaud have been added to the AA Refuse List.

Yes, Two Canadians have just had almost all their convictions quashed on appeal in the Dublin High Court . The appeal was upheld because the alleged offences occurred in mid-atlantic and were therefore outside the Irish Jurisdiction .... i.e. outside Irish controlled Air Space ......

Great. Not only those two idiots shamed Canadians like me, now they got away with assult? Now everyone is going to use that excuse to get out of jail. Couldn't they charge them back in US since the carrier was American? I seriously hope they still have to pay the court order repair cost. If not, AA won't even bother doing a civil suit since the legal cost is way more than the repair most likely.
