That's a good and sensible method but - as you allude to briefly - it only will give you the terrain clearance if you can actually manoeuvre the aircraft to above the approach minima to start that approach's missed approach.

And at 1% climb gradient at ISA might not be possible.... :sad:

I know stallie - but the point is: You need some sort of plan (whatever that is, and as long as it isn't just "She'll be right") to get the aircraft up to LSALT - and a lot of guys don't teach anything about it, and don't even think about it ...

I know you know :) - but just pointing it out to others who might read it and treat it as the cure for all evils... :ok: But it's still a damn good idea, and pretty easy to understand.
