Yes, my i Phone 4 has been slow a few times. I've downloaded all the App updates it asks for but its possible not all Apps have been tweaked for iOs5 yet.

baswell 16th October 2011 22:38

Has anyone else noticed speed dropped in IPad IPhone since OS5 download?
Did you re-download the maps? As mentioned above, you need to. If you don't, we get the tiles live from teh Interwebs, which will be slow.

Jabawocky 17th October 2011 02:22

Any thoughts on the AIP and serach problems?

belly tank 17th October 2011 09:04

Baswell,

Today i downloaded all the maps and erc again and it works like a treat

thanks mate:ok:

Shagpile 17th October 2011 17:33

Yep a fix is on the way.

Jabawocky 18th October 2011 02:21

So you have to work ya butts off to fix a change made by apple :ouch:

Thats life I guess....Bugger!

How long do you think? Is that one pice of string or two? Not that I am in any hurry but some folk might be.

baswell 18th October 2011 04:49

Jaba, you should have gotten an email about the new beta. That should fix it for you. The quicker you test it, the quicker the rest of the good folk here will get it. :)

Jabawocky 18th October 2011 06:07

Nope.... no email yet!

Jabawocky 18th October 2011 11:41

Nope, still nothing...

185skywagon 18th October 2011 13:09

Got mine (beta email)but not game due map loss problems. Is that sorted bas?

baswell 18th October 2011 23:10

"Map Loss" happens when you update iOS to 5.0. Simply updating OzRunways won't make you lose your maps.

Only caveat: this is a beta, anything can happen. ;-)

Lancair70 19th October 2011 21:47

I did the iOS update last night. Now when I click on downloads to re-download maps etc, the program just quits ?

Jabawocky 19th October 2011 22:18

A fix is on its way........I had that and the lads sent me a Beta test version....so far so good!:ok:

baswell 19th October 2011 23:51

Lancair: does it crash when you try to start a download, or when simply tapping the "downloads" item on the config screen?

Things to try:
- Restart the iPad again
- Delete the app and re-install from the App Store. (This will lose your user waypoints)

Lancair70 20th October 2011 07:08

Hi baswell, it was crashing as soon as I hit the downloads button. Ive tried turning the iPad off and on but its the same. I have only one user waypoint so far so no big deal, Ill try deleting and re-installing from the app store now and let you know.

EDIT: Have now tried deleting the app and reinstalling ti from the app store but it still crashes as soon as I click the downloads button. Ive read other have got it working ? ? Fortunately for me, Im grounded after hernia repair surgery for another few weeks so Im in no hurry for it to be working. But I respectfully suggest to others who do need to use it with downloaded maps, dont do the update to iOS5 until the fix for Ozrunways is available. It appears to be working fine otherwise.

Lancair

baswell 25th October 2011 00:06

Lancair: what about when you try to just use the app without downloading anything? Can you see the list of airfields? Can you view any ERSA entries?

Lancair70 25th October 2011 03:11

Yep, as I said it seems to work normal other than can't download the maps etc and the AIP serach just stis there and does nothing.
Can see the maps and airfields, ersa entries etc online.

Attempt to download and the whole propgram just quits completely and instantly you hit download button.

rioncentu 25th October 2011 11:08

Yeah Bas I'm having the same issues as lancair. iPad 1 with IOS5.

Happy to wait for you to suss these issues as IOS5 seems pretty radical.

Keep up the good work guys:D

Cheers

VH-XXX 25th October 2011 11:54

I had a similar problem after a reinstall of the App until I changed my username back to what it originally was, then away it went.

Jack Ranga 25th October 2011 21:23

I don't get apple? Their point of difference was that they were nothing like microsoft. ios5 has completely rooted the bluetooth connections I had between iPhone and my car. My iPhone (3gs) continues to turn itself off and re-boot during phone calls (only started to do it about 3 months out of warranty). Whenever I start my macbook pro calendar, word, my day, e-mail and iTunes opens, it's really starting to piss me off. This was after updating to Lion.

I used to think they were bullet proof and just a little bit ethical :ugh:

nitpicker330 25th October 2011 22:28

Yeah my i Mac running Lion starts up with Skype, Calendar, Email and i Tunes maximized
on the screen and I can't workout how to stop this.......minor annoyance.

Capt Claret 25th October 2011 23:35

I find that if I shut my iMac down with programs running, when restarted, the same programs will open. If I close the programs before shutting down, they don't open when the computer starts.

baswell 25th October 2011 23:58

Thanks Lancair and rioncentu, confirmed on iPad 1 with iOS 5 only.

It seems to be fixed in 2.5 (by virtue of a changed memory management model), but let me see if I can get a 2.0.2 out with this specific fix ASAP.

Bas.

nitpicker330 26th October 2011 04:07

I'll give it a try. I want these programs to start minimized in the tray and not Maximized on screen.

Tks.

Shagpile 26th October 2011 04:56

Due to the way that the iOS5 deletes some data, but retains other bits, all your problems can be fixed by deleting & reinstalling the apps.

This should only be a problem once, as once you have iOS5, future updates are done without having to use iTunes backups etc.

For iOS5+ you will just be able to go into your iPad's Settings menu & click "update" and it will do it.

Jack Ranga 26th October 2011 06:26

Tried that Claret, no cigar :ugh:

rioncentu 26th October 2011 11:33

Bas

I managed to download all the maps tonight.

Did you issue that bug fix by "magic" as I didn't see an update to download

I did get some error messages with some maps but they all seem to be there now.

Shagpile 26th October 2011 19:02

Did you issue that bug fix by "magic" as I didn't see an update to download
No, it's the iOS5 upgrade that disrupts OzRunways. Deleting & reinstalling OzRunways fixes any random problems you will have. Just make sure you remember to type in your userID again.

rioncentu 26th October 2011 20:23

I didn't do anything !

Magic !!

Jabawocky 26th October 2011 20:36

That was the fix for Jepp mobile as well.

:)

Lancair70 26th October 2011 21:31

Baswell, Im running iPad2 and iOS5, not iPad1 as you said above.

Still no joy here.

Lancair

baswell 26th October 2011 21:41

Can you send me a screenshot of what your settings screen looks like? Hold down the power (top) and home buttons at the same time. The screen will flash and a screenshot will be in the Photos app, from where you can email it to [email protected].

Thanks,
Bas.

Jack Ranga

Close the program (e.g. safari, calendar) using the option + cmd + q. Or click on the word safari in the top menu bar so the menu is displayed, then look at the bottom option when you toggle the option key.:ok:

I actually like the feature, as I have my MBP set up in a certain way with multiple desktops. Same with the Mac Mini media server with TV tuner, iTunes etc all running. If there's a power outage, it turns on again as it was left.

Keg 26th October 2011 22:51

It certainly seems to 'crash' a bit more under IOS 5. I had a couple of random events the other day where the plotted position dropped off the WAC even though the bluetooth GPS had a signal and the iPad showed the GPS as 'paired'. Stayed off for about 5 minutes. Happened a couple of times CNS-SYD.

nitpicker330 26th October 2011 23:37

Keg...... So, how'd ya find Syd without it!!

Keg 27th October 2011 00:59

F/O was driving! :E :ok:

nomorecatering 27th October 2011 01:38

I'm just wondering how long it will be before NAIPS has a box to tick for Ipad and Ozrunways along with the usual adf/vor.gnss boxes.

nitpicker330 27th October 2011 02:13

Nothing like a good F/O, a good one can be handy on the overnights buying the drinks and fetching the girls too!!:)

Jack Ranga 27th October 2011 02:56

Thanks Compressor, I'll get onto it, new to mac and bloody confusing sometimes :}

LeadSled 30th October 2011 01:28

Folks,
Having just started with a clean install of iOS5, all the OzRunways data has loaded just fine.
I have paired the iPad2 with a Dual GPS, seems to work very well, finding the real battery life of the Dual batteries will be interesting, can anybody comment?
I find the whole OzRunways package impressive, the price is s winner, support with a minor learning curve issue was prompt and much appreciated.
Tootle pip!!
