Climb gradients
Hi everyone,
I am currently self studying peformance and am having some trouble understanding climb gradients. Are there different climb gradient requirements for day and night? If so what are they and why? Where do I find such information? Does this also apply to an IFR Missed approach (I am not IFR rated but have a basic understanding)? Is there an easy way to calculate these gradients in flight? I would appreciate any help thanks C152g |

Easy. Just work out how many track miles are available for the MAP, and the altitude gain your aircraft is capable of in that distance....
Adjust your decision height by whatever the height diff is between the amount you can climb and the MAP altitude. That way you get to the MAP altitude by the place you are required to be there. Of course, all this needs to be worked out before you start the approach. |
