NZ vs Ozzie differences

I was thinking off a tread regarding the difference in NZ and Ozzie law and any other thing we can come up with, to benefit those who will go across the tasman.

We now know not to join base in aussie.
Flying odd numbers plus 500 and even and 500 going east west headings vs the same in NZ going north south etc.

And the read back to ATC including the QNH in NZ were in OZ all you tell them that you have info delta or what ever it might be.

any other suggestions?

cheers:ok:

I'm sure there was a great thread about this in the last few months, can't seem to find it though! Perhaps someone with better searching skills than I can find it!:ok:

solowflyer 29th October 2008 08:34

no need to read back QNH in NZ either just info Delta etc

MACH082 29th October 2008 10:25

We say 'six' they say 'sux'

Na thats not right, QNH is a read-back item in NZ.

solowflyer 29th October 2008 11:08

Used to say that it was but can not find any refrence to say it is

wessex19 29th October 2008 11:38

Biggest difference I can think of is Australia now has Robbie Deans:ok:

mr.tos 29th October 2008 11:44

We say 'six' they say 'sux'
Which sounds a 'weeeeeeeee' little bit like 'sex'

glekichi 29th October 2008 11:46

Robbie Deans... and we still cant win :ugh:

I started a thread identical to this, as mentioned, about a month or two ago.

here

The title might not have been as obvious as it could have been.

Dangrous Goods

You have to have a dangerou goods awareness certificate in Australia regardless of whether you are to carry dangerous gods when flying commercial missions whereas I dont think it is the case in NZ

BrokenConrod 29th October 2008 13:39

Kiwi chicks have fatter ankles than Aussie chicks!

BC :E

Fragnasty 29th October 2008 13:43

NZ has the Bledisloe, Australia doesn't.

Choice bro'!

peuce 29th October 2008 21:38

Kiwis say "Ozzie" :=
We say "Aussie" :ok:

Maggott17 29th October 2008 21:50

There are no lambswool seat covers in NZ registered aircraft.;)

Have to admit I haven't looked through the phraseology section lately but everyone reads it back and if you don't ATC will ask you for the read-back.
Another important difference is that when you order a tap beer in NZ they pour it well. Here in Aus they dip the nozzle right into the beer for the last bit. Drives me nuts.

russianthru_thesky 29th October 2008 23:15

L&P and Watties Tomato sauce can be found in plentiful supply in any NZ Fish and Chip (not to be mistaken with feesh and cheep) shop, wheras it tends to be more of a rarity in Aussietralia

Fragnasty 30th October 2008 02:41

Marmite wins hands down over Vegemite.

Mr.Buzzy 30th October 2008 03:29

Kiwis work for peanuts.

bbbbbbbbzzzzzzzbbbbbbbbbbbzzzzzzzzzzzz

framer 30th October 2008 04:53

Too true mr buzzy, pay packets are definately a bit thinner in NZ.
One thing that I've noticed since moving to Aus is the poor customer service in retail here. Clothes shops, service stations, restaurants, you name it, average as.

solowflyer 30th October 2008 05:39

not to mention the backward thinking especially in WA ie daylight savings and 7 day trading

gadude 30th October 2008 06:37

framer, no disrespect to the kiwi's but i don't think its much better over in NZ.

I do think there is a BIG difference between the city and the outback however.
(more friendly in the outback)

mattyj 30th October 2008 06:56

We got used to ridiculous socialist thinking over here with a whooly Labour Govt. for the last 9 years..if you shift to Aus, you will just have to listen to all the complaining again as they all get used to having politically correct looney dogma rammed down their throats too!:yuk:

desmotronic 30th October 2008 07:01

All the kiwis who dislike Australia so much should go home or somewhere else. Simple really.

gadude 30th October 2008 07:42

And counting down till election day!! Than we sent uncle Hellen over to join forces with good ol Kev:D

future.boeing.cpt 30th October 2008 09:12

oohhhh come on desmo, we're not that bad really. I love living in Ausi and part of the reason is that most Australians are immigrants...might pop down to Canberra next week and get my citizenship I reckon.;)

Maggott17 30th October 2008 12:46

Australia has an Air Force with a potent fast jet section.

NZ's prime minister SCREWED her fast jet guys and took their jets away.
