Wheres IRIS ?

Used the IRIS Recognition Immigration System at Heathrow recently and cleared immigration in about 2 minutes flat. Jumped a Q of about 400 at the passport counters. Very satisfying!:ok:
Anyone know of any plans for this system being implemented for Australian passport holders in Oz?

Dog - how do you register for the IRIS system? I noticed it as I staggered through Heathrow a couple of times recently but didn't know how to use it so joined the 400 strong queue! You've just reminded me that I meant to find out more about it.

Only 400? Must have been a quiet day. Have known times when its queued almost back to the airbridges - not even worth using an EC passport because there's even more of them queuing these days. T3/4 must win the prize for the most miserable dingy airport welcome. IRIS could only improve things there!

Does it still recognise your blood shot eyes after the 14+ hour flight .... plus the numerous drinks consumed on board the flight...:yuk:

All details available on the Net. Search UK IRIS.
But brief summary:
Aimed at business traveller I think.
Booths located at Heathrow, Gatwick and some others. Hours vary. Not open pm at Gatwick for example (by design?) so Grockles (holiday makers) cannot register. Need to be outbound through security to register.
At Heathrow T3 (open all day) procede through security T3 . Office is on the right just before the shoe removal queue and duty free. Take passport to nice young lady. Smile into camera and hey presto you are registered for at least 2 years I think. Takes 10 mins and is free.

Looking forward to using Gatwick IRIS next week - just to feel special again! Saves shuffling the UK and Ozzie passports about after a reconnoitre of each Q length and always joining the slowest!! And with only handluggage it also means that you beat a potential Q at the carhire desk, and of course you get further up the Q on the M25 on a Friday arvo.
So many Q,s !! So little time. Good en yer IRIS!!!!
And Yes it does recognise tired eyes etc.

Use it all the time. It's a great system. :ok: Although, it can be slow but it's quicker than the queues to be looked at by some bored person....
