88b Sorry everyone having a bit of shocker(bloody night shift) The current aviation trader is advertising Eastland airlines fleet of A/C including a pair of Twotters. Hopefully clicked the correct buttons this time, 88B |
200's or 300's? I'd think all 200's (and many 300's) would be a bit past their prime by now!
|
Torres depends on the Serial numbers. Id think anything from sn. 500 onwards would be ok still.
-200s and 100s are to old but can be modified with derated -27 or -34 engines whic better TBOS with primary and secondary nozzles as aposed to the -20 single stage burners. Which get bloody hot on start hence their tiny TBO.... But the A VAN is the way really. Also another complication with twotters is the requirement for GPWS in Oz. Anyway Take care with your purchase Borek and Rocky Mountain in Canada can give you good advice on these beasts Regrds Sheep |
I seem to recall there was approx 830 Twotters built and the Series 300 (-27 engines) started around Ser No 238?? I have a feeling there is an expensive wing mod or wing life on the Series 100/200 aircraft? Also heard one of the MAF 300's was converted from a 200? The type certification for -34 engine conversion is held by a Canadian company.
Where's nasa?? :p |
Torres,
s\n 120 and 117 (Both 1968) TTIS 31k and 33k respectively, and both 200 series. 88b |
8 8ths. You may find those serial numbers are 100's with the 200 nose conversion. Can't remember whether 100's ceased in the 80s or 130s serial numbers. Relatively low hours for 30 plus year old aircraft. -20 donks! :yuk:
|
Mark Cruise, you're not from RTA are you? don't they want to buy two new donkeys for the shorts?
|
Torres............. You will find that the two aircraft mentioned are ex P2-RDE and -RDD respectively. As you will recall these were ex-TAA aircraft with the additional TAA electrical system that makes them very heavy. Both were built as -200's, only P2-RDB was a converted -100.
What tales these old girls would tell if they could talk................. |
Mark Cruise,
I would stay clear of those 2 Aircraft. There are 2 others on the Market, I know form personal experience. Heres the link they are good machines.... http://www.rockymountainaircraft.ca/...t/content.html These machines have had some extensive maintenance etc. But are in excellent condition. Would definitely be better than any 200. I have around 300 hours in each. Also have 50 hrs in each of the above 200s mentioned. Regards sheep |
Torres the nose conversion for 100-200s did happen. But that doesnt mean all 300s and 200s have long noses. Youll find that the Flotaplane versions 100s , 200s , 300s all have short noses.....
|
Yes, I know Secondary. I was referring to the model, not whether it had a Jewish nose or not!
Chimbu, I'll be darned. The old girls again! They would have originally been VH-TG?. Any idea what happened to P2-RDB, bought by TAL 1972, ferried to PNG by Brian McCook and under 3,000 Kg empty weight? I think Junior said it had a wing problem so guess the old girl is on the scrap heap now? |
