FEW VB 1700 4th Apr 2003 17:38

Ha ha good to hear Nungry. Do they have CDMA in KMB yet? I want to hear Animal Bar stories

nungry 5th Apr 2003 13:15

Lots of VB 1700, wah, sabe CDMA in KMB. You got GSM in CBH????;) I'm staying at the Animal Bar so stories to come. Went down last night to see the weekly brawl, but only two dogs going for it,( the canine kind!) Maybe better luck tonight. Sick to death of the chicken kiev and chicken snitchzel already, will have to stick to beer instead.

404 Titan 5th Apr 2003 22:04

Ah that brings back memories of a chicken snitchzel dinner being washed down by a VB or two watching the sun go down at the Sunset Tavern. How I miss those days.

:)

I don't think much will beat the late Richard Murray-Prior's wake last year....I still cannot smell too well after spilling scotch into my nostrils after standing inverted against the wall in that contest...

Or 8 aircraft stacked on top of each other at 250 foot separation all cirling over the one boil

Morning tea at birri

Fresh mud crabs every afternoon

Jellyfish the size of umbrellas off Mornington

That midnight collision of the two trawlers, one lying inverted in the water the next morning after running up the other's anchor line and flipping.

Crappy's tales of f***ing c***s in Canberra who have no idea about things in the part of the world, in between abusing his offspring (aka propstrike) for riding his bike around the tarmac.

Sitting on the historic Qantas flying boat pier dangling a line in the water watching the sun sizzle into the ocean and the mangroves.

The radio chatter of the detailed discussion of the plot, subplots and philosophy of Sweet Valley High which is on at 0500 on Imparja.

Having my spotter hit me as he wanted to fly somewhere else and I was doubled over at the controls laughing so hard at the chatter on chat channel that tears were pouring down my face and I was ignoring his hand signals.

That infamous threesome involving two unnamed homophobic pilots and a prawn trawler cook, but agreeing to it providing they both stayed at each "end" and "don't you dare touch me" stressed to each other. That was the inspiration for the infamous limerick, made up over the airwaves on chat channel:

"There was a prawn trawler cook from Karumba
Who gave all the pilots her number
She said with a grin
As she wiped it from her chin
If you dont get infected its a wonder"

Trying to stay awake during a 6 hour sortie. Similarly calling someone on chat and having them answer half asleep.

Grumpy Centre controllers who objected to getting 12 VFR sartimes in the space of 8 minutes at 0623 each morning. Mind you for every grumpy one there were as many cheerful ones.

Doing crosswords on chat channel

Some spotters' dubious personal hygiene habits

Poetry recitals over the chat channel

Blue Shed

The infamous in plane fight between spotter and pilot

Pulling off by the taxiway on 03 at Karumba in nil wind.

Ash's Barra Burgers

Brian's loquacious radio calls from his wokka when his trawler's skipper broke her leg

Wondering which pilot C***** the local lass is going to be going out with this week. Also winding up one of the pilots who "serviced" the lass the year before that she had a little baby who looked remarkably him...

The Macarthur River One STAR into BRL.

God I miss it already. :p I'd love to come back for a week!

PS. For those who knew Richard M-P, his ashes are scattered just east of Sweers Island, about 2 nm offshore in
'Prawn Alley". He'll be keeping an eye on you lot, and encouraging more fun and games.

Still waiting for my official limited edition "Prawn Camp" shirt as well!!
HAVE FUN IN CAMP GUYS...

compressor stall 7th Apr 2003 11:29

The organiser of the 2002 prawncamp t-shirt had me reminding him every month. He still has the money in an envelope with everyone's name attached. about 2 months ago, I did see the design on a piece of paper, so it might be around for 2004. Just think the cred a 2002 t-shirt will have then!

I'll give him a call and try and hurry him up....

the wizard of auz 7th Apr 2003 19:55

DOA 13th Apr 2003 20:16

Ah Stallie, don't let to much away.

Remember what goes on at Prawn Camp, stays at Prawn Camp.

Many a marrage or future one could be destroyed by lose lips.

Maybe a job or to aswell.

The old nine iron still isn't the same. bloody cane toads.

Cheers:ok:
