Snarek, it may not seem constructive to you but the facts are that NO flying schools have closed at Jandakot since privatisation and prices for parking and landing have not changed either. A couple of maintenance people have retired or moved to other industries, but there are plenty of places to get your maintenance done.

Therefore, your letter was not representing the facts for JANDAKOT. and is untrue and misleading. I don't know the facts and figures for the other airports, but I do know Jandakot quite well, as I go there every working day to run my aviation business.

My point is that if people want to make a credible protest, they would be better served with the correct facts and figures, which I am sure would be readily available from Jandakot Airport Holdings for anyone who cared to do the research.

Organisations like the Jandakot Airport Chamber of Commerce aand Jandakot Air Transport Operators Group are the appropriate body to take up matters with the goverment.

Childish personal insults seem to be an AOPA trademark, so that aspect of your post doesn't surprise me. Ugly I may be, that's a matter of opinion which you may like to discuss with my husband, but stupid I'm not.

Woomera

Nah, I won't edit. I will just apologise. Otherwise people get confused and can't see where I stuffed up.

CFI

Ah, well a post you made ages ago mislead me. You are not who I thought you were (the little light goes on, but you don't have my name in your logbook then). Nonetheless, sorry. :o

BUT, three AOPA members there have reported to me their parking fees have increased significantly following privatisation. True or not???. Remember, these people are members, those of you at JKT who are not cannot expect us to know how you feel.

I know training there flourishes, but does private aviation??

The minister responsible for privatisation of airports around our country is a member of a conservative political party. The oxford dictionary defines a conservative party as: a political party promoting free enterprise and private ownership.

We have no hope of changing this governments mind on these matters, no matter what we say or do.

Just remember that everything any government of Australia has privatised has cost the consumer more, why? Because unlike the government business people in the private sector want to make a profit and get a return on their investment and who can blame them.

Now don’t get me wrong I disagree with the commonwealth selling off its infrastructure. I believe in the future our children will ask us why did we let these small mind power hungry political idiots sell the farm

Yes I agree, in General the industry is in pain, but I agree with CFI the situation is a lot different in Jandakot than other capital city airports, and you should know your facts before commenting, the trouble is hardly anyone really knows whats going on in the great west unless your actually there!

snarek 9th Jan 2003 03:01

Spent 2 years there (well, Geraldton anyway - Perth on weekends).

But I must admit, I prefer the Territory or FNQ. :)

Could someone enlighten me then, why are the private owners ticked off, have prices gone up or not???

Damned good point Dog.

Chuck

Hey!!! Whered Dogmimed post go to???

snarek 9th Jan 2003 03:24

There it was, gone :)

Dogimed 9th Jan 2003 03:31

I moved it to the other AOPA thread.

Sorry guys/gals.. Got confused.. here it is again on this thread.

What I dont get is this. Why do people leave instead of voting someone out? Leaving serves no purpose to ALL concerned. Why not just vote him or her out.

Lost on me. If I think AK is doing a crap job, I vote someone else in. I'd rather have a say than not have a position to speak.

If people started staying as members, then their vote would be triple what it is worth now, and they would have the power to push directors out or in.

Like a government. Vote em out if they aint working for it.

Completely defeats the purpose of having elections if people are going to take their bat and ball when they don't get their own way. Lets put the fear into their eyes around election time, knowing if they haven't done anything they're gone!

Heh heh.

Dogimed 9th Jan 2003 03:39

There was nothing intended, just that your the main contributor here in this thread. And in the other, was just first that came to mind ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Woomera, CFI et al.

Having realised my mistake I rang CFI to try and apologise. I was hung up on, so I suppose I have no choice but to put it here.

I try to be here to get all your views, it aint easy as you are a critical lot, CFI especially. That is OK, all part of the game.

During one attack on AOPA via me CFI said "and your name is in my logbook". Given some rather stinging e-mails from another CFI (who I have flown with alittle further north than our CFI here) earlier that day I put 2 and 2 together and got 5.

Again, I am sorry and have now edited out the comments.

BUT, if all that ever happens here is attacks and you won't talk to AOPA people then how the heck are we supposed to know how you feel.

ho-hum :(

ulm 9th Jan 2003 20:31

Ain't it amazing how whenever anyone tries to do something here they get shot at, and usually from WA.

Is it the weather or something???

I used to live in WA, Kununurra. My partner cacked himself once as we were flying into Perth from Cairns, I looked out of the window and mutterred "Sh!t, back in the sandpit"

He comes from Qld, he thought it hilarious.

Anyway, score 1 for CFI and Woomera, he has given up on PPRuNe.

Oh and CFI, it is my name in your logbook, not his. :(

Sheep Guts 16th Jan 2003 01:31

Puff and for that matter, anyone operating at an aerdrome that charges using to new recording devices. You should boycott by not giving your call sign ( White cessna joining downwind 05) or change your call sign all the time spuratically each time you put in a flight plan. So it snows under the bean counters, alot extra work for them.

Just an Idea

Propswinga,

You are quite right about council's perceived ownership. The same thing happened over here in Goulburn when council tried to off load the airport. Minister stepped in and squashed the deal because the council's do not own the airports despite them thinking they do.
We're finally getting a reasonable break over here; hope the rest of GA will sooner rather than later.
