Qantaslink recruitment

For those invited to the assessment day for the Dash 8 operation, anyone know what percentage are actually recruited from each batch on the day?

are the odds stacked againt you with the typical HR numbers game of picking the best 20%?

Also anyone know what bases are likely for the Dash 8?

They desperately need crew mate. Biggest thing they want to see is that you're a decent person who can hold a conversation.

They don’t have a % quota from each assessment day. Some days everyone gets put through for final ok from the bigwigs, other days it’s 50%. All depends on the candidates and how they perform. It’s not rocket science, just do the prep and demonstrate a basic IF scan and rate of improvement in the sim and you’re fine. Hasn’t changed in about 10 years.

Not certain about bases but the regular suspects will be SYD, MEL, then a maybe for BNE and ADL. Haven’t seen direct into CNS for a while but never say never.

Despite the naysayers it’s a great job and the training is second to none.

Most likely SYD, MEL, ADL straight up (in no particular order)

A bunch went to CNS not long ago but most transferred to BNE as soon as they could.

They’re short on all fronts but nothing is ever a given.

Put the effort in on the day and show a genuine interest in getting the job and you should be fine.

If you meet the score requirement you’ll get the gig. There’s no quota on how many they need to fail/pass - they are desperate for anyone with a licence.

Bases:
Melbourne (good luck living on dash8 wage)
Sydney (you’ll need a second job)
Adelaide (best value)

Whatever base you choose you’ll be locked into that fleet for a while. They couldn’t keep FOs in Adelaide for a long time so hence the seat lock.

If progression onto qantas group jets is what your after in the future then I’d be applying for Rex.

Might want to ask the panel salary expectations for FOs with your experience as it does vary under new EBA.

Goodluck!

Latest rumour from the Moranbah refueler is that the assessment day is about to be replaced with an ECG test.

Laugh, well we may.

How different to the mid to late seventies.. where 2500 hours plus 500 twin time was the minimum… unless you were an instructor or chose your daddy (or mummy) well.

The hilarious bit about the wankers in recruitment in those days was that they never understood that a a 250 hour bare bones fresh CPL holder was every bit as good a gear retraction device as any 4000 hour GA “hard man”.
