Hi all,

Can anyone provide any useful information about working with EFA? Typical 737/321 roster patterns and moral amongst the troops..
Looks like a BNE base is opening, any information about fleet type and size of this base would be appreciated.

Before you get knocked over by tumbleweed, it was once described to me as a bit like kissing your sister, tastes the same, just not right!

Apparently they have 2 A330’s and an A321 arriving by the end of the year as well as 2 A321’s early in the new year.

Not sure where they are going to get crew given the current pay scale…..

Getting rid of all the 737s?

Everyone there under the age of 45 is doing their best to leave to go to mainline. The pay isn't good but you're not working every day either. Just back of the clock stuff a few nights a week.

Depends what is important to you. If you want every weekend, every Christmas, every Easter and every national public holiday off, a relatively quick command opportunity and only want to work between zero to three nights a week, then EFA might be the way to go.
If however you are motivated by the attraction of bigger money or the fleeting "glamour" of mainline then you are probably in the wrong industry anyway.

I doubt they will ever have a problem getting crew, but if they did market forces would prevail.

Don’t forget to add that night freight is for the young - you eventually get sick of it.

Mainline has far greater choice. And pay. There’s a reason it’s considered more “glamorous”.

I agree, it really depends on what your priorities are in terms of work-life balance and career aspirations. If having a predictable schedule and more time off for holidays and weekends is important to you, then EFA might be a better fit. But if you're looking for the potential for higher earnings and the prestige of working for a larger airline, then mainline might be more appealing. It's all about finding the right balance for your individual goals and priorities.

There is nothing predictable about the schedule. It literally changes daily. You wont do high monthly hours but you are basically on 24/7 reserve until within 48hrs of a day off.

Yea look I just wouldn't. Night freight might be fun..... in a company where your roster is protected or even respected. This is NOT a lifestyle job. And the pay has been designed to never go up, and even to fall below award over time. And the comment about quick commands, those days are gone lol. Get a quicker command at jq and atleast have a roster. The only thing it has going for it (for now) is Low flying hours. But the current management completely undo that benefit by doing everything in their power to keep you contactable round the clock. It's not sustainable. It's not worth it. Go for another job
