NVFR Category Credit?

Does CASA allow a credit NVFR when seeking to add NVFR in another category?
In reading Aeroplane and Helicopter NVFR I'm unable to find any reference to
where a person already has a NVFR in another category.

I'd have to check the regs to confirm, but I'm pretty sure the way it works now is you have a NVFR rating and add the appropriate endorsements, A or H. Having one with the associated air experience should reduce the hours requirements for training for the other.

Just had a quick scan of CASR 61.975 and 61.980 - if you already have NVFR with the A endorsement, that means you would have the dual night and night cross country hours, so to add the H endorsement, you'd just need to add the helicopter night and instrument time as per the table in 61.980.

It's all in the wording, whether it specifies particular experience in A or H, or just night experience in anything.

Having recently gone for my NVFR rating, yep, that's exactly how it works. There's no "credit" as such.. although I'll admit it is mighty confusing.

The NFVR Rating comes with an NFVR Endorsement in whatever you did the test in (eg. SEA), but you then need to get NFVR Endorsed in anything else you're flying (assuming you want to fly those NVFR) - be that Helicopter, Multi-engine, etc. That means you also need to include night flights in your BFR to keep flying those aircraft NVFR.
