Rockwell Commander 114 Aerobatics
Don't try this at home, perhaps djpil might if CASA consents. Bob Hoover demonstrating, his penchant for aeros meant he lost the seat to be the first man to go supersonic.

I recall suggesting to Neville Duke that he do some aerobatics in his display of the Optica at Farnborough in 1988. His initial response wasn't complimentary but he changed his mind. |
With no disrespect to Mr Hoover, I’m always concerned by anyone who flies aerobatics in aircraft that simply were not designed for such a purpose.

And for the Rockwell promo film, the FAA did grant him a waiver to permit him to fly the aerobatics legally. They would have had to demonstrate the aircraft was up to it. And they didn't fly over any populated areas as far as I could tell from the recording. |

I believe the late Mike Jerram, Deputy Editor of Pilot for many years, flew in the back of the Commander 114 while Bob did his display at Paris one year, clicking away with a wide angle lens. Think I'd have been clinging on to something, anything solid...
