Lucky they had autopilot

A Russian pilot and a female cadet have been kicked out of a flying school after a mid-air sex video was posted online.

According to the local news site Gazeta, the 28-year-old instructor who worked as a pilot at the Sasovo Flight School Of Civil Aviation took off with the unidentified 21-year-old student on a Cessna 172 aircraft.

Local media reported the instructor, who was a married man, had persuaded the student to engage in sexual activities with him after promising to give her extra flight time. She had reportedly initially refused because he was married but later acquiesced when he offered the extra tuition.

When questioned about what happened in the raunchy encounter, the young woman said autopilot was on and claimed they had only kissed and hugged. She later said it was a one-off and had not been repeated.

The scandal came to light when she had a row with one of her fellow cadets, who then decided to post the footage online to get revenge, according to local media.

The flight school learned about the video only a month after the incident when it went viral.

Several unidentified employees of the flight school had been alerted to the footage and confirmed that the pilot and cadet were their colleagues.

After the intimate video was confirmed as having been filmed during a flight on one of the planes owned by the school, both the pilot and the cadet were thrown out of the institution, although some media said that the woman had already resigned and collected her paperwork when she heard that the video had been made public.

A story about as old as flying. Lawrence Sperry is generally credited with having developed the first practical autopilot - and with having earned the first mile high club pin with its aid.

There was a very prim n proper lady in her late 70s, who occasionally used to pop in to the bar on the airfield where I learnt to fly. One evening, at a wake for one of the old instructors, the good stories began coming out, one of which involved our heroine. Apparently she and the old boy we were toasting, had become very friendly during the course of her learning to fly. Finding the cockpit of a Vagabond lacking in the necessary space, nevermind the absence of autopilot, they formed the habit of landing at a favoured spot while supposedly undertaking multiple cross countries. One fateful day the weather forced the CFI to abandon his usual route for a flight test and while droning along thinking of ways to torment the student, spotted an aircraft parked next to a dirt road. Inquisitive, he chopped the throttle and left the student to "discover " the perfect forced landing area. Story goes; the pair were so involved that the sound of an idling A-65 didn't register until the (late) go around, by which time, all was revealed...:}

I think there's a vast chasm between it being mutual consent for fun and being coerced into it to pay for tuition.

Looks like Putin to me. Slipping a sly root and fathering a few sly children.

This wouldn't be the first involvement between a flying instructor and a student. However there is the possibility of coercion as she might have been worried about being given failing grades. They were just on the age difference limit as well, half the older person's age plus 7. If the age difference was only a year or two it would be more understandable.

Filming it was obviously not a good idea and similar to drivers of high performance cars posting videos showing speedo readings of 150mph on public roads.

I've always considered half your age plus seven to be a target rather than a limit...

My CFI used to land on French island in Victoria on an old dirt runway with one of his students, apparently it was “training” mmmmmmmm
