Did anyone else receive...

... an email from CASA about creating and checking a 'myCASA' account? When I clicked on the link I received:

This login.microsoftonline.com page can’t be found

No webpage was found for the web address: https://login.microsoftonline.com/7a...m_medium=Email

Probably sent by Craig Kelly on behalf of The Blob.

Lead Balloon 6th Sep 2021 08:32

Maybe that's it. The first duty of politicians is, after all, to entertain. Craig Kelly funded by Clive Palmer is going to be comedy gold.

It's strange because I already had a myCasa account, but the email was sent to an address i have not used for 10 years.

Methinks CASA has been hacked...

They are just using an Azure B2B portal. Your PC or phone probably didn’t like the link or had an issue talking to Azure.

I saw a similar issue recently where TPG users couldn’t log into and MS / Office / 365 servers.

This is what happens when CEO’s tell the IT team to “move everything to the cloud.”

Ahhh, that may be the technical issue. If it is, I doubt it would have happened in the way you described. In my long, first-hand experience, it would be more likely the IT service-provider deciding it would be more convenient and cost-effective for it to 'move everything to the cloud' and scamming the CEO into believing it would all happen without a glitch.

Of course. The CEO/CIO didn’t come up with they idea themselves, they read it in the CEO of today magazine where it said that 98% of the Fortune 500 companies are looking at moving to cloud in the next 9-12 months.

I doubt Ms Spence subscribes to CEO Today magazine.

I have no doubt about how IT contractors to government agencies behave.

They did that in our place, now we feel like we're all Microsoft employees.

Absolutely, touché, checkmate, same here!

This "Cloud" arrangement seems like a good place to put some of my confidential company records and personal pictures and data. Can someone please send me a contact for the people who manage this arrangement so i can obtain a copy of the access and confidentiality agreement to enable me to assess the suitability of those arrangements.

Cloud Security

Here's your answer.

Search for "Cloud Security Governance - Australian Cyber Security Centre". I can't provide a URL until I've posted 10 times, this is my first. Guidelines for Federal Gov in procuring cloud services.

I would suggest if you're not happy with it for CASA stuff - you'd be even unhappier with where your other Gov data resides. The CASA stuff is more than likely in the Microsoft Azure instance in the Canberra Data Centres, IRAP'ed to PROTECTED level. Probably a lot safer than where it was stored in a poorly managed traditional infrastructure based data centre.

Lead Balloon 13th Sep 2021 21:47

Yaabuttt...

The questions remain: Did the email I received actually come from CASA and, if yes, why was the update link in the email 'dead'?
