Flying in Victoria during lockdown?
Assuming all other Victorian lockdown requirements are met, would a two hour private flight departing and arriving at the same airstrip be considered legitimate exercise or education?
|
Have you asked the Victorian Health Department or whoever regulates travel during a lockdown?
Air Services Australia may also know the official position on such flights? I suspect a departure and arrival at the same airport, with no intermediate stops, would be acceptable, but accepting the many varied PPRuNe opinions as official Government policy may leave you with a serious problem you probably don't need. |
Surely you've answered your own question? A PRIVATE flight couldn't be considered one of the 5 reasons to leave home under even the most optimistic interpretation? By the same logic I could jump into my car, drive a lap of Victoria and back home again - think a policeman is going to buy that one?

Are you remaining within 5km of your home and below FL164?

Is a professional YouTuber able to fly privately for 2 hours and even land somewhere…? that’s something I’d be interested to hear if it was legit, just for interests sake really. |
Private flight in Victoria: Just fer-get-it (at least for 6 more days).
Hopefully we'll be out of this soon, after which you may wish to consider moving to another state, or country where the drinking water fluoridation levels are much lower. |
If the airfield with 5km from your home to start with?

If you can prove that you are flying for employment, education, exercise, food or a vaccination then go for it!

And if the coppers meet you on arrival back at your departure point just have a screen print of this thread and I am sure they will apologise for the inconvenience and drive away.

… or just refuse to answer their questions and drive off. Too easy! What could possibly go wrong?? If you haven’t committed a crime, you don’t even have to speak to them.

Blimey, you folk,
If I lived in Vicco (and thank goodness I don't) and I felt like going flying, I believe as a CPL I have every right. Every flight I ever do is related to my work as a pilot, period, end of story. If I am going to the airport I am going to work. I am self employed, here's my ASIC, here's my CPL, move on copper. Good luck you blokes and blokettes :-) |

Ehhh this one is actually yes and no, there are a few other reasons they can ask you specific questions you have to answer, if in doubt check the below link, it's pretty good as a resource and generally speaking so long as you're cooperative they'll let you go quickly and without any hassles. They're not like that CASA mob :}

If departing a private strip I would just do it. Essential safety checks to stay current blah blah

To all those brave Sir Robins who would just tell the fuzz to f off and its my right as a pilot to go wherever I want whenever I want it looks like you might get another 7 days to turn your brave rhetoric into action. Let us know how you get on.

Well someone gave it a go and it looks like Coppers 1, Sovereign Citizens 0

Hardly a local flight
To fly from Sydney to Coober and back via other states is not what the original poster asked.
