Is Airservices passing on flight plan info to Police in Victoria
With the whole of the Peoples Socialist Republic of Victoria in Stage 4 lockdown. One of my mates wants to take his C182 out for some quality time, given that we have 5 days off...thanks Dan.
His aircraft is based on his farm strip, the grass runway is literally steps from his back door. His farm is 10km from the nearest other house, let alone a town. If he puts in a plan for a Melbourne city scenic flight at midnight, at 8,000 feet. Will Airservices Australia pass on the details to the boys in blue. Lots of people are in the air from the noise aircraft are making, no plan, no transponder in rural areas. |
Geez that won't stand out like the proverbial.........

"puts in a plan for a Melbourne city scenic flight at midnight"
Don't worry, all the lights will be out, because they have all come to Queensland There are more Victorian number plates up here than there are Queensland number plates at the moment ! |
So his farm strip has runway lights or a flare path?
POLAIR will probably be up and about, as they usually are. |
If it’s not for work purposes then in theory, no, not legitimate.
The exemption that was circulated by certain aero clubs last lockdowns would not be relevant in this case, as that was targeted towards those that needed to fly to keep the engines circulating. There were people doing those flights with transponders off so that peanut keyboard warriors with nothing better to do, couldn’t track them on Flight Radar 24. This is a perfect example of one of the limited number of benefits of being a flying YouTuber... you need to fly to make your content and you can’t work from home! |
At Midnight....Safe as houses.....AsA / ATC asleep on 'doggos'............

Guys - you do realise that the gentlemen of the press read these pages to save them the bother of going out to find a story don't you?
|
It wouldn't take much of a thought process to work out the outcomes of this hypothetical.
|
gentlemen And what about the 'ladies' of the press? |
Submit a plan. (Don’t fly). See what happens.
or go the opposite direction? :} |
Southern Sun, who also has a runway at his back door step, went for a flight on Feb 14: "having not secured a Valentines Card, I figured the least I could do was sneak off write it in the sky, all within 5k’s of the house!" https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....3dd90adba0.jpg |
B E W D I F U L L .............
Well Dun that man..... or woman.....or person........just in case... |
He even did it three times to make it stand out. That’s love for you ❤️
By my moral and legal compass, that flight would be legal, because Mike is a professional film maker. |
I think VicPol have better things to do with their time than chase pilots around the sky - although I guess if you do it at 2am then maybe you are fair game. Also not even sure why Airservices would be needed - FR24 will do the trick.
Sorry to disappoint all the Dan-haters but my related experience was in Gladys' territory (shame I hadn't bribed her -ex). Flew Tyabb to Parkes after NSW introduced border passes last year but before the border closed hard. Was met at YPKS by the local constabulary who, other than knowing that they'd been rung by someone in Brisbane and asked to check out a flight from Victoria, had no other real idea of what was going on or what they were supposed to do. Showed them my permit, calmed down the local council who had freaked out about super-spreader aircraft landing in their town and all was fine. |
calmed down the local council who had freaked out about super-spreader aircraft landing in their town Are they a ' self declared 'chemical free' Council and feared that you were going to pollute their 'natural' envronment with that nasty Superphosphate stuff:rolleyes: or even worse, start spreading chemtrails? |
You probably should be thanking Dan and staying on the ground. This is bigger than you and your need to go flying in the next 5 days.
