Is the RAAF Point Cook Museum closed permanently?

Rang Dept of Defence Switchboard number given on the RAAF Museum Point Cook website about opening hours of the museum. The Defence civilian operator tried several phone numbers with no succes until she found an automated message which say the place is closed down until further notice.

Does anyone know if the museum has closed down permanently? Are there any RAAF units still on the base? Are the bird droppings still covering the Hercs, Caribou, Bristol Freighter and HS 748? Are visitors to the base banned? Are civvy security guards still holding the fort at the main entrance to the base? Or has the risk of COVID -19 particles floating from the Bay causd the whole joint to be closed down?

Seems such a shame to see the museum going down the drain. Any news appreciated...

Centaurus,

No need to stress mate. Point Cook is as busy as it has ever been, 100SQN has just been stood up to operate the Point Cook and Temora flight aircraft, there are plenty of units both at Laverton and Point Cook, the museum is just closed due to COVID.

When the pandemic is over visitors will be more than welcome back.

Cheers.
