Airfields and Hangarage in FNQ
 

G’day, shortly moving to Cairns/Port Douglas with a Buccaneer and a Cub. Anyone know of a private field with hangarage close by? Thinking Mareeba or Atherton but would prefer a field close to Pt Douglas where I could build a hangar. Thanks.

Lea Lea has a new strip I hear, if that’s not too far North.

There is a microlight strip with hangars about 2km North of the Port Douglas turnoff on the Captain Cook Hwy. I don't know exactly how long their strip is and if they would accept you.

Port strip should be ok for the Cub. Not sure re Buccaneer t/o distances. Or how long that strip is.
plenty of parking room at YMBA. Hangar rental costly tho ..couple of new hangars going up, for sale or space.

Way things are going with Council attitudes at YMBA , for pvt light aircraft a pvt group Airpark elsewhere is becoming a better bet. I,d be happy to sell out and go somewhere else.
Freedom from bureaucratic BS is becoming more difficult these days.
Know of some hangar space at YATH.
