GA Aircraft between states during Border Closures
 

Are ARO's at country airfields noting aircraft arrivals & departures. I've heared rumours that ARO's are having to provide details of any aircraft movements they observe. This is in response to talk of light aircraft being used to get around state border closures.

Could the authorities get regos from Avdata?

No doubt there will be some 'police' type activities due paranoia!

I guess it depends on where you've come from and your destination. There are potentially very large penalties involved if caught.

All I know is ATC have to tell plod if you arrive here and don't have a flight strip saying that you departed here. Don't know about uncontrolled airfields

Already had the local constabulary 'make enquiries' with me regarding the potential use of one of our club aeroplanes to move between Queensland and NSW. It wasn't ours but they are asking questions.

I wonder what happens if you fly to the dig tree and back from SA? I can’t see plod camped on the innaminka road on the QLD side.

If that miserable excuse for a politician running QLD bothered to look at the almost zero infection rate in the vast majority of both QLD and NSW, and then applied some accepted risk management strategies that businesses use every day, there is no reason why cross border traffic between those zero infection areas should not occur. :ugh:

Once again, COVID -19 is all about risk management strategies, not blanket policies that lock the joint up.

I won't go into the detail here obviously, but there are ways of getting in and out of QLD by air without attracting attention. Anyone desperate to do so will be able to work out how. :ok:

We have been operating between QLD and NSW almost daily throughout the COVID 19 restrictions and have never once had even so much as a casual query.

Local police wanted to stop us flight training because there had been "an anonymous complaint". I told them if they could shut down the schools at PMQ, MIA, WG, BK I would follow suit.

Did a flight from western NSW to Cooly, (is that classed as QLD?). Coppers were waiting to check FIFO workers paperwork and Pilot ASIC's.

That would depend on where you parked.

mmm, I think they were QLD cops. I didn't look too closely at the badge. They wanted to sight the pilot's ASIC but spent a fair bit of time with the PAX.

Have done some stuff between SA and WA, within WA, and within SA. Only police check on arrival was for a SA to SA flight. Others in the company have been checked going in and out of the WA Bio zone; paperwork we have satisfied authorities.

I’m surprised a Qld Policeman ( or a NSW one ) would even know what a ASIC is. Maybe they have a admin guide for border crossings. I’ve not noticed any at YBAF when the FIFO aircraft come and go daily or do I need new glasses

I would imagine they had a guide as to what to ask for. The coppers were good fellas, there was nothing jackboot about it. I'm pretty sure they took temps of the workers, I was busy securing the aircraft. Next time I'll have a look at the brand of copper.

If they don't know what an ASIC is just point out to them it is what they are wearing as they are airside where one is required to be displayed.

Police, emergency services and military in uniform and on duty are exempt.

An exemption does not necessarily mean they know what they are doing. I've seen plod poncing around airside and they were a danger to themselves and a menace to others.

Same for me at cooly. It's the airport security not coppers. Wanted to see an entry pass. A piece of paper that you get online self declaring in 2 minutes. Another ridiculous waste of a lot of people's time.

And would the state border closure not be a reason behind this almost 0 infection rate? This is a bit like saying "Well, we've got almost 0 infections so it proves this whole virus thing was a hoax!".

Not saying that the borders shouldn't be opened up but not yet, lift the other restrictions within each state and give it some time to see what actual effect it has on rates within States before just opening it all up and THEN realising it's caused a lot of issues. Remember it's a Marathon, not a sprint.
