Casa Class 1 Medical Costs 2019 ?
Hello Class 1 Holders
I’m a PPL on a Class 2 Medical and considering to work my way up to a CPL (not for commercial reason though). What I was wondering, how much do you currently pay for a Class 1 medical/renewal. I tried to google this and got fees/cost but most of it seems to be outdated i.e. before 2019. So, how much did you recently pay for these tests? - (CASA Fee) - Audiogram - ECG - Fasting lipids and glucose - Eye examination Thank you! |
CASA fee $75.00
- DAME, incl Audiogram $ 362.50 - ECG incl Coronary Calcium Score $175.00 - Eye examination. $320.00 |
Coronary Calcium Score ??

Talking to my GP later ( who obtained my results) he did say it was a handy thing to do because it’s an indication into my health generally. |
I’m not sure where the stress test requirement comes from - CASA I presume? You and your DAME would have received a letter from CASA outlining the reasons for the Cardiac Investigation. Make sure you file it (and make appropriate notes). Changing GPs, DAMEs or Cardiologists makes finding old records difficult. From my experience, once these issues crop up they tend to continue. |

Don't forget that when a stress test ECG is required due to reaching the magic number of points,it is claimable under Medicare coz it is "medically indicated". Helpful. You can put your hand on your heart and say "no, it's not for a certificate of health, there are medical indications". The Avmed is a fortunate byproduct.

Thanks for the numbers!

The Stress ECG saved my life too. Eleven years on from a triple bypass and still operating on an unrestricted Class one. A small price to pay!
CASA avmed were kept in the loop and 6 months after my op I applied for and was issued a class one again after having a confirming Stress Echo ECG. And Medicare is bulk billed too as mentioned previously. .. |
Yep, congenital defect, corrective OHS, bypass, class one medical re-issed 6 months later.
