EFOGI [PNG] disabled aircraft

EFOGI currently closed due to a disabled aircraft, lots of rain in area in recent times.

Flingwing47 8th Oct 2019 11:53

Ah Efogi with the dog leg
did many a trip there on the Jungle Run

Mumbai Merlin 11th Oct 2019 04:46

Aircraft is Air Sanga PAC-750XL, P2-ASZ, apparently parked in a position that renders the airstrip closed. Repairs required to fly aircraft out.

PNG AIC will have their hands full with 2 helicopter ditching's and the Air Tractor accident.

That link is broken for me ( Error 404 : Page not found)

packapoo 27th Oct 2019 22:24

PNG and broken links......there's symmetry there somehow....

Capt Fathom 27th Oct 2019 22:37

It works if you remove PNG from the end of the link!

It would appear from the brief review to date that:-
The pilot failed to cancel SAR after the accident which resulted in an INCERFA Phase
The pilot failed to notify ATC even by HF radio
ATC appears to have notified CASA
CASA appears to have notified the AIC, over a period of a few days.
You would have to wonder if the CP is in control of the company, and what the CEO and QAS department are doing or NOT doing.
With two Twin Otters (ASL), (ASM) and a Cessna C206 ?? and a rather bent if not written off PAC, you would think someone is in charge of Ops?

Mumbai Merlin 6th Dec 2019 09:43

Air Sanga PAC 750 still at Efogi and airstrip still closed after 2 months.
Air Sanga Twin Otters; P2-ASL and P2-ASM, both parked at Skytek, Cairns.

Surprised the locals haven't pushed the a/c off the end of the strip to re open Efogi!:ooh:

Then again, the Jungles Folk are far more easy going than Highlanders.:hmm:

Let me guess.... you work for a competitor of theirs ?

geeup 7th Dec 2019 20:08

Squawk I don’t think they have any competition...

Only competition is debit collection as they owe a LOT of money.

Duck Pilot 9th Dec 2019 06:24

Heard the other day from a reliable source that the 750 was going to be lifted out of there this week sometime with a Mil 8 and bought back to POM.

Ah so! Reminds me of the way a Dz Bongo Van was retrieved from Erume (I think..will have to check) way back in '90 after it was accidentally 'reverse parked' off the side of the strip.:ooh:

Pilot had a 'rich cut' of the engines just after landing and the brakes could not hold the airframe sliding off the wet grass strip into the bush!:sad:

Have some photos somewhere of the a/c slung below a helicopter coming back to Moresby. Will try to find them.

Office Update 9th Dec 2019 08:34

I think if the underwriter, assuming the aircraft is insured, takes a deep breath and then reflects upon the issue at hand; probably close to being a write off?
New prop ?, new or overhauled power turbine as a minimum, new firewall, new nose landing gear assembly?

Small issues; the real problem is; YA GOTTA TO HAVE AN ENGINEER …………. whom is capable of undertaking the task! Put it in a box send it to New Zealand, if you can find the money.

Duck Pilot 10th Dec 2019 09:44

I think the RAAF lost a Caribou in a landing accident at Efogi about 12 years ago just before they retired the aircraft type.

Parts of the remains of the wreckage was left at the old international terminal at POM before it was eventually demolished.

Not the first time an aircraft has been bent there, probably won’t be the last either.

Kagamuga 10th Dec 2019 09:46

NOTAM on Efogi for Wednesday is cancelled, so aircraft either pushed to side of strip, damage beyond repair, or perhaps the Mil 8, did a lift?

Duck Pilot 10th Dec 2019 09:53

Think it was lifted out today.

manfrmuncle 12th Dec 2019 15:15

Any updates on status of 750XL?

Does any one have any updates on the 750XL at EFOGI?

How does one get in touch with someone at Air Sanga?

They seem to do a pretty good job of hiding.

manfrmuncle 12th Dec 2019 15:17

How does someone get in touch with Air Sanga?
They are impossible to reach.
