Ohh no! I can't believe it. I am still getting over loosing Steve Hobson....now black George. George ressurected my Queenair back in the nineties which I flew for over ten years with him looking after it until I sold it.
Will be sadly missed.
RIP George.

Deeply saddened by the news.
“george” was certainly a GA character, loved and respected by all who knew him.
whilst I was certainly no LAME/ AME/ mechanic , I was always happy to speak with him if there was an issue with the airplane.and he was always very understanding and respectful, even though he had seen SO very many GA pilots come and go!
of all the Bankstown, and later Sydney LAMEs I knew..... “black George” was a character I knew and respected probably the most.
friendly, personable, knowledgeable, approachable, and professional all rolled into one small Smokey body!

Vale, George...you were loved and respected by your peers. A feat not easily managed.

RIP

Gidday apache, hope you’re well mate.

I didn’t know Black George, although I may have met him on occasion. Some close friends and colleagues though always spoke of him in respectful and affectionate terms.

Surely a fitting epitaph for any man. RIP.

RIP George,A friend, colleague and just a good guy who was willing to share his knowledge with me as I was with him. Simply a good guy gone too early but at least up there he will have a great audience of those long gone. You were one of the good guys.

I knew him just as "George", and he was always courteous and helpful, always had a smile and a friendly greeting whenever I would wander over to the hangar and ask for something really odd (a few scraps of 16 thou aluminium to make a bracket for something or other, etc). Everyone who knew him spoke highly of him, and in aviation you can't get a better rererence than that. Farewell my ever-helpful friend, and thanks. RIP.

Thanks for sharing his picture Horatio, I do recognize him. Would you know when he passed away & what caused his demise. It is sad because I always thought he was person who kept good health, who enjoyed & was active in his job.
