North Queensland Emergency Response Group

Hi there
I am trying to chase up any pilots or crew who may have worked for the NQERG. I want to find out some history on he group. From my readings, they seemed to fold up in 1991 but I have seen some medicos who reckon they were working with NQERG up to 1995.

Thanks

Doug

Weren't they part of that shonky scam that originated out of Victoria/NSW?
Outfit came from no-where, had all the latest and greatest then went Bang.

Not intending any slur against the pilots if that's the mob I'm thinking of.
Would imagine that at the time the failure would have caused a great deal of hardship.

Yes you are correct. When NSCA folded, their Townsville assets were taken over by NQERG. I am doing research on all helicopter rescue services in Australia - current or old.

King air and a bell 412. Sponsorship from Mt Isa Mines ( MIM) and one other major player I can't remember. Service was really needed in the area and saved a lot of people. .

Did you read the following autobiography?
The cross-eyed spitting cobra : the life & loves of an Australian mercenary pilot / Noel Vonhoff
Chapter 22 is on North Queensland Emergency Response Group.

Yes, I have read the book but there is not too much history on NQERG. The author was only there for a short period, not when it ended. Thanks for your follow up and help.
