machtuk,
Sadly, a very accurate reflection.
The Australian aviation sector is a shadow of what it should be, and the aviation bureaucracy is largely to blame ---- not just CASA and Airservices, the latest and the worst, but over many years.
Australia went the wrong way post World War One, and never corrected. Read or re-read and understand Donald Horne's "The Lucky Country".
Tootle pip!!

Thankyou. Reason for the question was I last flew in Aus on a CAR part 5 licence. When you say logbook entry do you mean logbook endorsement used for rating renewals in the Part 5 system ? as a pilot entry could just be evidence of an illegal approach ?

My question is when someone asks for “evidence” of being qualified for all 2D approaches what does a pilot show these days?

Rumbear,

Your car 5 licence is now obsolete , when you apply for a part 61 licence from CASA, if you had any of these NDB,VOR,GPS(RNAV),LOC then this will give you 2d on your new licence , if you did a ILS then 3d will appear on your license .

In your logbook you should have logged approaches for currency , also on your instrument rating renewal (now called an IPC), it will list the aids you were tested on.

Anyone can lie about doing an approach, for a job asking for evidence its simply either your IPC flight test form and / or your logbook currency.

Log on to here https://customer.casa.gov.au/webclient/

This will physically list all your aids and your 2d/3d as well for final proof from your car 5 and part 61 licence
