Work advice from Melbourne pilots

Hi everyone,

looking for some advice on getting some work in Melbourne.
Not looking at going anywhere else because I want to go home after the few years of hour building.

I have over 2500 TT and 500 multi but have only just started my atpls.
if anyone knows of jobs going would be awesome to hear from you.

PelAir are occasionally looking for Melb based King Air pilots for the Aeromed work.

Recommend not using the expression "awesome" during an interview.

Centaurus is offering light-hearted advice and a gentle reminder (I think) that the word 'awesome' is frequently misused, much to the annoyance of silly old buggers who may conduct interviews. It does NOT mean 'nice' or 'appreciated' or even 'great'. To said silly old buggers it likely means 'greater than great' or 'f#@*ing scary'.
But seriously, restricting oneself to employment in Melbourne may be very limiting. It has traditionally been the Aussie base of choice for many pilots, hence more competition.

I have heard of GAM hiring people with 1000hrs TT as long as they don't have their ATPL's completed. So you should definitely give a try there.

Not having your ATPL’s or being colour blind are the two most attractable things you can have if you’re looking for a job in GA.

Not having your ATPL's may be attractive if said individual is not intending on EVER getting them, but in my experience it generally means that people will want time off to go to courses and sit exams.

Mogga said they "are looking for work in Melbourne". Nothing wrong with wanting to get a job in the place they wish to reside.

It’s interesting how few applicants a Melbourne based jet and turboprop operator I know gets these days. It’s always been a bit off the radar, but people aren’t casting their nets as wide these days.

Do do your research, keep digging (and not on a public forum alerting your competition) ... there are “awesome” :/ jobs to be had out there.

Now I finally understand what the ATO meant by "Awesome landing" on completion of my flight test.

Well from now on I will be careful with my choice of words on here.
But thankyou everyone for the advice. I know I have limited myself, but we all have goals and working out of Melbourne has been mine since I started. I think it will be easier finding work there when I move back and that in between time will give me opportunity to get those awesome exams sorted.
