QantasLink to Qantas mainline - whats it like?

G'day all,

I have a start date with mainline next year. I've been with QLink for 8 years and thoroughly enjoy it but would like to move to Sydney and unfortunately the internal structure of QLink doesn't allow this from my current base without starting all over again on the seniority number system hence the reason for applying to mainline.

I'm wondering what people think of there new role as a SO for QF Mainline who have transitioned from QLink or similar as a captain?

Do you like it more than you thought or is it not cracked up to what you thought it would be? Ideally I'd like to be 737 cause I'd be home more often (I think!) compared to long haul. How long is the wait in the RHS as a 737 FO going to be before being eligible for 737 CPT position?

I'm interested in hearing your experiences transitioning from a captain to second officer and from the regional to long haul lifestyle. Thanks in advance.....

This has got to be a wind up of some kind! Nothing in the posting makes any sense.

What exactly doesn't make sense? Seems pretty genuine to me.

I think I know what you mean. I had to read it a few times for it to make sense.

On a slight drift, QF used to maintain requirements for educational background of recruits, particularly physics and English;: do they still do this?
