Labor In Power
If what just happened in Victorian elections (labor landslide) happens nationwide at the next Federal election, GA is finished. Regional airports will be sold for property development and the regulatory burden on aviation will keep increasing. There is now no point in my former call for political campaigns on behalf of GA, they will only antagonise an eventual Labor Government - who will be vindictive. |
Vindictive is a mild way of putting it.
|
Federally speaking, once again "it is time". The perpetual cycle of checks and balances reveals now that the coalition has performed so badly that Labor is in the transcendent. As we have just seen in Victoria. Those of us with vested interests in GA
will feel the pain. (But to predict vindictive responses is, in one sense, to invite them.) |
You forgot to add this is a party political message on behalf of the Liberal party!
I don't think it will matter who is in power. That battle was fought and lost years ago. Regional airports are mostly owned by councils and charge accordingly. Ever heard of Avdata? Most of your posts make sense Sunfish. This one doesn't. Had a night out on the turps did we? |
1. Councils will take their lead from state and Federal Governments. 2.” The battle” is not over until GA and recreational aviation is suppressed in the name of a sop to greenhouse gas emissions reduction, envy (those rich silver tails and their expensive toys) and property development. We are an easy (and convenient and attractive) target for the left wing socialists. 3. The Liberal party is stuffed. 4. I was the alcohol free designated driver last night. |
Because the last 5 years has seen GA triumphantly return to sunlit uplands?
|
1. Only when it suits them. They got screwed when the Feds made them take over their airports and gave them a inadequate amount of money for maintenance that most of them spent on other things.
2.GA's contribution to greenhouse gases is insignificant. RPT traffic however is another thing and growing but there is no alternative for the near future. 3. Agree at the moment but as with Labour 5years ago the wheel goes around. 4. Good boy! |
Whilst not wanting to add too much to the corrupt political circus that is the Australian system essentially we might as well take a shovel to GA & bury it once & for all!

Council supports airfield
Here is one council that is protecting the local unregistered airfield by a (draft) plan, released this week, that seeks to prohibit activities on nearby land use that could adversely affect flight safety. The backstory is that some landowners were campaigning for airfield restrictions to combat noise and low flying and disturbance to livestock. As a result, landowners now will have to apply for permits to conduct activities on their own land, that could be hazardous to flight! http://www.mrsc.vic.gov.au/files/ass...-law-no-12.pdf mjb |

I spent many hours on an advisory panel run by John Anderson. He seemed pretty keen on privatising monopoly airports. Wasn't he a Nat?

At least finish the projects before giving up and walking away. They were building a taxiway at Ballarat. They turned the dirt and that was it. China has built dozens of Airports before we can even finish a taxiway. |
Dick Smith considering being a candidate?
Media speculation in the last 24 hours that Dick Smith is considering standing in what has been a safe Liberal seat. Go Dick Smith! Mjb |
Dick Smith is considering standing |
tio540. I sat behind a couple for 30 years, no complaints there. They just kept humming along.
# 14 ...Good quote re democracies. We are nearly there. Just watch the Parliament 'Circus' on TV and note the behavior of most "parliamentals"..its subsidized theatre at a colossal cost to the taxpayer. And the serious issues for citizens are not being dealt with. Its all about the electoral cycle and retention of power Just Ike CAsA, the "safety" soviet that has lost the plot. Its turned into a grand scam, fcuk the 'customer/aviator. We surely need a revolution of some kind...to clean out the swamp. |
Small “l” liberals like me are totally despondent over the prospect of a Labor landslide next federal election. the abbot liberal party has been successfully branded as “homophobic, misogynistic, climate deniers and racist to boot.” Shorten has already made it obvious that he is going to plunder our superannuation. That leaves older Australians totally fearful. We have no one to vote for. Furthermore, CASA under Labor will redouble it’s effort to kill GA and recreational aviation in payback for the Forsyth review. |

I remember Gillard and Albanese pork barrelling a new oval near Jandakot, they contributed 10 million which was more than they had "sold" Jandakot for. The Cockburn, sorry, Fremantle Dockers were more important to them than the airport. It was all very nice for Fremantle but they still can't play AFL. Freo welcomes headline0 million federal government commitment to Cockburn Central West project - fremantlefc.com.au
As for super, my balance is only single figures percentage points more than the contributions I have been forced to make over the last 25 years, it is a complete con, another one of Keating's bright ideas to have a pot of gold for them to rob in the future especially as the union membership has declined so much. All I can see is them transferring that pittance from my little pension pot into their disgustingly bloated one. As for the other, do we really need another unrepresentative swill one trick pony in the Senate? |
