Ron's famous advise... " WHEN THE MONEY RUNS OUT THE WOMEN RUN OUT " funny guy . In PNG when weather closed in and things got tight " Son it looks like its wooden box time " . Great guy.

I didn't know the guy but the stories like this will end in the not too distant future, then a part of Australia's aviation history will be lost forever:-( RIP to a story maker from days gone by!

Last I saw of Ron Kuch was in 1989 when he operated a Cessna 310 at Cairns. Quite a character. He and his German born wife lived in a caravan under the trees somewhere near the airport. She was a real honey proving that you don't have to be good looking to win the blonde beauty.
I think his charter business was closed down around 1989 by the regulator of the day. I was told by a former commercial manager he ditched an overweight Nomad in the Marshal Islands with freight, baggage and people sitting in the isle. Normal practice in those days. My guess he would have been around 70+ when he died.

He lost his AOC for the C310. This is how it went he put a flight plan in direct Weipa to Cairns direct but he use to land at Coen as part of the bank run but did not want to pay the landing/nav fee's and never reported landing he did it all the time.
One day he is sitting on the ground at Coen QLD in the C310 giving a position report overhead at 8000 feet and the DCA/CAA inspector tapped on his window holding a hand held VHF hahahahahahah sprung that is a true blue old Aussie... Reminds me of Jimmy Hazleton. God bless them both.

Is this the same Ron who used to operate a Cessna 337?

Both of 4 Holer's anecdotes made me laugh. Wonderful way to remember a character.
