PPL Flight Test
 

Hi there,

I know this thread has been answered before but i haven't seen an updated version of it.
I am approaching my PPL Flight test and would like to be prepared. I know there is an assessment sheet online and that has been of incredible help thus far.
I understand that each testing officer is different, surely there are some common areas to focus on. (theory or practical)

Testing officers are standardised. Google CASA flight examiner's handbook and PPL test form to see it from the examiner point of view.

You are either competent and proficient to the standards in the MOS (pass) or you aren't (fail).

So for preparation make sure you are very familiar with the MOS and if there are areas you are less competent in then make sure you brush up before the test.

Hey mate I think I know what you're really getting at,

Obviously it pays to be prepared really well with the advice of your instructor and other qualified persons about the flight school etc..

But I believe your asking "whats the PPL test day really like? what are the pitfalls? what are the areas I'm likely to be assessed carefully on?

I highly recommend finding another aviator that you hold in high regard within your area, and speaks in a manner that you can really click with. Sit down over a long coffee and talk it out. You will go away with perspective on what is about to come. After all, we all want to ace-it on the day, so we end up feeling confident about what we have learnt, plus also not wasting the big bucks of a flight test.

P.s, You wont be put up for a flight test if your instructor doesn't think you are ready, so there's a big indicator.

Thanks Andy G, exactly what i was asking. Just didn't state that clearly, brilliant idea. I understand that my instructor/instructors should be there to assist and be of best assistance but i feel sometimes it might be nice to get another opinion. Squawk7700, this is my pain.. i've gone through 7 instructors up to this stage, they all have progressively left my school for a large regional carrier.

Wooah! seven instructors??? Big school with lots of students and movements huh? I'd be thinking to look around a bit, I hope you dont feel locked-in with that school, that is exactly one of the pitfalls of training. You are after all, a paying customer and deserve a efficient training continuum in accordance with your dollars spent. Not saying you're being milked, but keep up the dialogue with other aviators or ex-students in your local area and gain that understanding.
