Vinyl Wrap?

Can anyone recommend a supplier of 3M 1080 vinyl wrapping films? The aircraft will have to be wrapped by yours truly, deep in the back blocks.

Deep in the back blocks, eh Sunfish?:E

Wouldn't be by chance a certain WWII vintage A/C seen on some occasions back in the late 1960's, suddenly and briefly, pulling into formation next to a DCA Aero Commander.:E:}:ooh:

For anyone suffering from that 'conspiracy theory' disease; The above is a wind up!!!!:=:}:hmm:

Goodness! Perhaps when Sunfish finally gets his homebuilt aircraft flying, he may defray some of his costs with wrapped advertisements? :)

Pinky, you know that rumour was a certain bright red mustang..vh-aub

Who would sponsor it though, Bunnings, IKEA or Jims perhaps?

Nah, too upmarket and aviation related. Think Aldi, National Tiles and The Blind Factory.

The Blind Factory...is that another nickname for CAsA ?

I very much doubt it, a factory usually produces something of value to the community, in the case of CAsA I don't think so.

Nope. Different one again.

And a Factory does not seemingly seek out to destroy that which may use its production.

Sunfish, this is a bit ot, these guys work this rig 24/7. The wrap is good enough to give a quick wash to become show quality...not a bad truck in the flesh...

Wasn't there some speculation that vinyl wrapping maaaay have contributed to the crash of the RV7 in NZ ??

StickWithTheTruth 19th Feb 2018 07:49

I'll bet $50 you won't do it to your whole aircraft Sunfish.

Arnold, you'd probably need to do more than 75 knots for that to happen so not an issue here :-)

https://www.3m.com.au/3M/en_AU/graph...a-distributor/ Here is the list of Australian distributors. If they won't sell directly to you, let me know and I can get it in for you. HVG, AVS and Spicers are all suppliers of ours.

We've recently used the new Arlon SLX product on a couple of jobs and would recommend it as an alternate. It has similar adhesive to that as the Avery supreme wrap film.

We had used the 3M products for a while but ended up going back to Arlon for printable and Avery for solid vehicle wrap.

Our experience is only on vehicles and have never had the time to try some on the plane.

I can latex print these if you need.

The orange 207 at Essendon is wrapped, and it needs a LAME inspection every 7 days.

Why does it need LAME inspections?

Peeling off etc, part of the EO for the application.
