Network Aviation vs VARA
 
Just after some pros and cons regarding which of VARA or Network would be better company to fly for.

Check the EBA’s pal. VARA gets you onto the VA GDOJ which is not worth much but it’s worth something.

My contacts at both ops seem very happy. Either options are good ones.

If you want to live in Perth and fly a jet, why not just join QF? 737 F/O available from Day One apparently. Proper airline conditions and decent career progression (for anyone joining now).

Mate of mine got into QF PER as a 73 FO direct entry. Hasn't worked for the QF group before. He did however have some jet command.

Thanks for the info. Leaving towards network as may have better opportunities in the future being apart of the Qantas group. Direct entry for QF for me probably wouldn’t happen. Only flown in GA.

There are two types of aircraft of relevance in the world.

Boeing and Airbus.

Any other jet time, particilarly under 50 tonnes is not useful if you want to move on. Go with the best endorement on offer.

Having friends at both NAA and VARA, I can tell you the VARA eba is about 15 years ahead of Network. Starting pay similar but all the trimmings far better at VARA. If you have the luxury of being accepted by either, you will be flying an F100 for a long time as when network get A320 there will be 100 pilots ahead of you to fly it. Of course Network have no Seniority list so you may be able to schmooze up to the right people and get a 320 Effo slot early. As far as being part of Qantas, don't kid yourself, yes it's a wholly owned subsidiary but my understanding is that to get into QF mainline is the same long path as someone off the street, at least VARA gives you a group DOJ and you'll only have 1500 odd ahead of you😉
As for the comment above regarding a/c less than 50t not being worth much if you want to move on, that's true if you wish to move out of the sheltered workshop called Australian aviation, but wether you join Network or VARA, you'll be flying something under 50t (at least initially)
