Ron Cush. Cairns charter operator circa 1990?
 

Conversation came up about Ron Cush (Kush?) who ran a small charter operation at Cairns around 1990 +/- a few years. A name in my log book. He owned a Cessna 310. Lost his AOC for a while.
He flew for Airlines of the Marshall Islands before that on HS 748 and Dornier?.
Lived in a donga near CS airport. Heavily built bloke with attractive German born wife.
Anyone know if he still around? He would be about 80 now, if so.

Ahh.. ! a name from the past. Ron.. Remember him well.
Just after the demise of the NSC (National Safety Council) Victoria, whom had acquired three Dornier 228 aircraft from the factory, Ron had an advert in the "Yellow pages" phone directory in Cairns with a logo which depicted a DO228 aircraft. Ron was advertising flight to somewhere near, the name escapes me, possibly Laura or Lakelands.
The Dornier factory never trusted the NSC to pay the lease, the then CEO John Freidfrick (spelling incorrect?) later failed his "Ordinance exam" in a paddock out the back of West Sale.
Dornier were smart enough to have a non NSC pilot endorsed on type just in case, being myself. I flew VH-NSC to Cairns to meet Kush with Dornier's chief of sales and it only took five minutes to realise he was more full of s##t than three Xmas turkeys!
