Serious question - What would happen if all aircraft (operations) below 5700 kg were exempt from RPT requirements?

As soon as the election is called, the Govt aircraft should be off limits.
I believe that the incumbent Govt can use the Govt aircraft at taxpayers expense until the the day of the "official policy launch" which could be a week before the election date.

Also the "press gallery" should be finding and paying for their own travel.

Better still not have the government aircraft for use of the pollies at any time.


Use the public transport or drive yourself, this is how they loose touch with what the rest of us have to deal with and the real problems of the state.

Over 6 months ago several operators who had the bulk of the work last QLD election were told that the election will be in the fourth quarter.

If the QLD govt had not cut so much back to the bone the other opportunities these companies have for revenue then they may have been fat in the system re both crew and equipment.

I believe the government has now finally seen the results of their opinion of "right sizing" that companies simply cant afford to have under utilized assets. When they and others simply cut the price point back to zero margin.

The only person who would make anything on it is the broker. Sadly this is the way of the world.

If the Govt Air Wing doesn't start to settle down soon there will be no experienced pilots or engineers left.

My Avdata invoice arrived in the mail today and says the following for Moranbah:

"Moranbah Aerodrome (YMRB) - $19.20/t, min $19.20; passenger charges apply for aircraft >5,700kg."


Whilst browsing, noticed that Moorabbin charges a flat rate of $90.91 for a hot-air balloon. Interesting.

Reread my #2 post. It clearly says look under 'Airport parking and usage'. You will find it hidden in among the pages of almost unreadable, close print lines of information.

I'm prepared to make a rather large wager you read your information under 'Airport landing and usage' and not under parking and usage. I can only surmise the information is in two different places in order to trap young players. They is cunning bastards. It would really make your day to wake up to a $500 overnight charge when you only stayed there as a precaution due weather.

Interestingly my invoice is only 2 pages in total (as it usually is), each is double sided, the first page says Statement/Tax invoice, the second has my several landings, charge rate summary (heading) - Airport landings and usage, with BPAY information and page 2 has all the text with charges on both sides. I don't have a "parking and usage" and I never have. Maybe if you don't "park" at an airport overnight, they perhaps don't include the fine print with your invoice. Even the "Airport Charge Rates" section on their site doesn't include parking.

It may or may not be $500.... it depends on your agreement with the private operator.

Visitors must be BARS approved and after that, an agreement will be reached between the two operators as to a price.

So as for "dropping in" in inclement weather.... that will be an interesting discussion and I guess one of the caveats with PPR :-)

Only $100 for an overnighter. Must be a smaller coal mine airport owner at Ballina... or perhaps the airport owner/operators have a cheaper liability insurance policy and live-in security staff...

I know that the big city airports are gold mines to their owners, just try parking a car overnight and see what it costs, though I'm not aware of reginal airports owned by any particular gold miner..:)

Ref BNA- I believe the $100/ night is for parking on the RPT apron. GA parking $16/ night.
