MCC qualification

Does anyone know why a lot of companies are requiring (or "preferring") an MCC course have been completed as a prerequisite minimum now? Are companies not in a position to offer these in house anymore?

Thanks mate

Ejector 19th Oct 2017 08:06

Do you need a MCC if you already have a endorsement on a multi crew plane ?

jakekenobi 19th Oct 2017 08:51

@Ejector
No,its prerequisite for your first multi crew type rating, but you can do it with your initial TR and that is far better option...

I hold an ATPL (pre Part 61, converted) but haven't done a MCC course nor do I have a type rating on a civil multi crew aircraft. Just got some paperwork for VA assessment days. The pre-requisties when applying didn't mention the MCC but the questionnaire asks if I meet the requirements for a MCL. Is this this a show stopper? Unlikely to be able to get one prior to the assessment days.

Narnia
If you hold a ATPL pre Sept 2014, you are exempt from the reqt for a MCC.
A MCL is a different thing isn't it?

Narnia Bound 10th Jan 2018 22:23

I think I'm getting my wires a bit crossed regarding Multi Crew Courses and Multi Crew Licences. The question on the application asks "Do you meet the requirements for a Multi Crew Licence". As an ATPL holder, sounds like the answer is "yes". The discussion regarding MCC and MCC equivalence pre/post Sept 2014 had me doubt that but sounds like it's not applicable in my case.

Horatio Leafblower 12th Jan 2018 04:50

Can I just say how awesome it is that everybodyknows exactly where they stand now that we have a clear and unambiguous rule set for pilot licencing in the form of Part 61?

I can't wait till this clarity and straightforward thinking is applied to Parts 135 and 91. It will be a brand new day for Australian Aviation.

Pay for a MCC,

It should be part of your line training.

Another sign of pointless over regulation.

Bloody ridiculous.

Know your flows and memory items, learn how to say checked, say what your doing before you do it, and don't be a w@nker. There's your MCC course. I'll take bookings via PM, $10000 by cheque only.

Hi folks, I was hoping someone may be able to answer an MCC question for me. I understand every company and bond is different, however, any guidance is appreciated. If you join a company that does not require an MCC as a pre-requisite but is a multi-crew operation, such as Q-link or Rex. If you present to the company with the MCC qualification already, does this take anything off your bond? Or do they just put you through their training regime anyway and include it in the bond? Thank you!

Qlink don't bond FOs so no, as for Rex, also unlikely given their "country values"

If everyone simply refused to complete an MCC Course, the companies insisting on people having it would be forced to organise the training for you (as they should be anyway) leaving pilots $1,000 better off…

Shoulda_beena_tradie 19th Nov 2021 23:49

Thanks for the comments. Hopefully in the next couple of years, it will swing back in the pilots favours and supply and demand will dictate that the MCC training is provided by the company!

I wouldn't pay a $1000 for your course, but id make you chief pilot, head of check and training, head of safety and... actually, just take charge Of CASA.. Maybe You want to be Prime minister as well? I only ask cause it seems like the people with this sort of common sense are long gone from leadership.
I don't know who you are, where you work or what exactly you do but, if you are in a position that you can influence others and impart this kind of attitude towards aviation to the next generation, I'd (certainly) appreciate you doing so. I know many of my colleagues would too. It seems that having common sense is a strict liability offensive these days...

The Southerner Flight School hero’s get a little butthurt when you pay out this MCC course rubbish.

The fact is I’ve never met a GA pilot who completed an MCC course walk out of it thinking ‘geez that was such a good and useful course, I feel so much more ready to take on the ‘challenges’ of multi crew ops’.

Its an ICAO thing that was bought in to satisfy MPL’s. It’s a complete waste of money/time for someone who’s spent their whole career to date working in small teams (most Aussie GA pilots).
