End of an era

I read in Flight International that KLM City Hopper finishes up services on the Fokker 70 this month. I flew one of the last Fokker F27 RPT flights in Australia back in 1992 and that was also the passing of an era. Have any other pruners got stories of last flights for aircraft types?

Do you mean last flight with a particular airline, or last flight period?
Most of those KLM F70's will probably end up on the Aus register with Alliance.

Some of the ex KLM ones will end up at Air Niugini. The Alliance ones are ex Austrian.

Used to fly a lot as pax on the Air UK F27s which was also owned by KLM, they did like their wind powered aeroplanes...had to do pneumatics exam for CPL in them days.

Meanwhile a former student of mine was in ATC and cleared the last Concorde to land at Heathrow :{:(

F27

Howdy,

My first ever flight was on an F27 from Mildura to Essendon return way back 1969.

I was but a wee lad. In fact l was an UM for both sectors.

Sir Reg' and his flying machine got me hooked.

Been forever broke and a tad "merry" ever since.

Still looking for a "bad" bottle of red................:)

Aus'
Luxor. Egypt.

Ahh, the old Fokker Friendship, or as she was know in Oz,

the Friendly F***ship.

First F27 ride in 1965 with Eenie Weenie Airlines, SY to Parkes. Kevin Crowe and Chris Braund the pilots.

The Friendship, AKA the 'Mouse' or the Dutch Wheelbarrow. Fastest slow aeroplane I ever flew.

Subject for another thread or maybe its already been done (link please?).
Why has the Fokker 70/100 been in the used car lots for a while in Europe and the best thing since sliced bread here?
