CASA MEDICALS

Just did a medical, aged 65.

How easy was it. Did the on line bit on Saturday, Monday with the Doctor and today, yes a Saturday afternoon, the certificate emailed to me.

Granted I only ever do a Class 2 these days but I'm not sure what the fuss was about.

Try it again when you can't tick every single box with the special magic CASA medical requirements.

Have a look at the expiry date on "the certificate". I think you'll find it isn't "the certificate" that CASA is now considering whether to issue to you.

No certificate is good for two years, March 2019.

When I did the online thingy, I ticked no to all the boxes.

Then when I went to the DAME he picked up I had had an X-ray some 8 years ago (been his patient for 15 years), he then changed the the answer and voila all approved.

Great outcome, in that case.

It seems that the key is to answer all the questions in a way that lets CASA's computer issue you a 2 year certificate.

Must be one of the very rare pilots with a single doctor!

Did my class 2 with an approved DAME in Hong Kong last August. Filled everything out online the day before and my DAME was able to print off my medical certificate right after I completed the medical.

Yep, but the printout is only the equivalent of the doctor's short-term renewal that they used to sign on your old certificate - CASA still have to go over it and issue you your new one, and if they pick up a discrepancy it can cause issues.

Nope. Valid 2 years.

Must say that I was pretty impressed when I done my Class 1 last year with the turn around, less than a week. The hardest bit was doing the online questionnaire, which hopefully will be reduced next time around to my health history within the past 12 months.

Last Class 1 medical I did I ended up in hospital having major surgery, effing doctors should keep their noses out of medicals :E

Nope. Valid 2 years.
That's good to see.

I did find that the online questionaire only worked on Google Chrome and would not display properly on Internet Explorer. My doctor said other patients had had problems with other browsers as had he and he now uses Google Chrome for his inputs and changes to a medical profile.

I too had a very quick issue via email for my Class 2 medical as well.

That sure is lucky, I'm still waiting 2 weeks for my casa class 1, all healthy.

In contrast my NZ class 1 renewal takes about 10 minutes and I walk out with actual medical in hand. Does it really need to be any more difficult...
