West Papua C208 operator - PM info required please
 

Hi guys,

Any West Papua pilots, please help.

I have an offer to fly the C208 in West Papua for a Jakarta based operator, but the company has got absolutely no digital footprint. There is nothing on Pprune or elsewhere.

I also don't want to put the company's/my potential new employer's name up for all and sundry to see in case the discussion takes a turn for the worse.

Please if you have knowledge of the industry there and are willing to answer a few basic questions, would you PM me?

I have flown GA aircraft in Namibia for a few years, so anyone looking for information on the industry there is welcome to pm me.

So you get a job offer from an organization you claim to know nothing about :ugh:

You then ask questions on here :ugh:

You then pretty much disclose your identity to your new employer by saying you have been flying in Namibia for a couple of years...can't be too many C208 new hires from Namibia. :ugh:

Everyone in the know is welcome to follow my research - I am not trying to hide my identity.

Sometimes, however, posts on these forums are a little uncalled for/biased/bad for PR. Such posts can reflect badly on a company/person. That is the only reason why I do not want to have the potential new employer's name linked to this thread which can pop up on any internet search later.

Have a look at the Indonesian NTSC web site, that will give you an indication of the operators accident history. Accident rate in West Papua is high, compared to most other regions. Primary accident causes are pilot error, CFIT, runway excersions and DG related incidents as they carry a lot of fuel into remote areas around.

I'd be contacting the operator directly to ask the questions.

Not many pilots in West Papua post here.

Not certain, but I think Susi Air is the only operator with Caravans in West Papua. They have roads to just about all the villages now, so not that busy. Everyone else operates in Papua.

There are quite a few 208 operators in West Papua. Most of the remote villages will never have road access due to the rugged terrain.

Do a search on you tube for Illaga!

hmmmm... a little terminology confusion here I think. West Papua as referred to by StudentPilot479, is the region West of Cendarawasih Bay -or pretty much the land-mass West of Nabire (WABI, NBX), if you prefer. Yup, for the time-being at least, Susi is pretty much the only Van operator in the West Papua region. There's 2 there I think, not doing much. Indonesian Papua (I'm being simplistic here -there are many sub-regions) is what I think most people (Duck Pilot et al) here are referring to, is the region East of Cendarawasih Bay and West of the PNG border -and is most certainly where you will find WAYL ILA Illaga. Yup, there's quite a few Van, Kodiak, PAC and Twotter operators here... I can think of 14 off the top on my head right now -there are more. The "Indonesian NTSC" is referred to as the KNKT here and would most certainly be helpful in researching the company in question -particularly over the last 3-4 years specifically.

Oh and for the record... there's a few "West Papua" drivers floating about in here ;-)
