Archerfield Activity

Looks like someone has lost a bit of their undercarriage and is doing circuits. Emergency services and police on standby. Looking to come in on the grass on 04.

ACMS 26th Nov 2016 01:36

Landed safely.

And a Cessna 152, or was it a 172 came to a sudden stop on its nose about 10 days ago on 04. Must be the preferred runway for quick stops

Whaaaattttt!!!!
You mean no mention it missed the hospital, orphanage and RSPCA shelter, not to mention the Brisbane CBD and an airliner with 500 people???
What are "they" teaching at journalist school these days.
Tootle pip!

Updraft 26th Nov 2016 07:06

Channel 7 News showed him "dumping fuel" prior to landing.

Ixixly 26th Nov 2016 07:47

Wow, did they capture the footage of him crawling out onto the wing to unscrew the fuel caps so he could "Dump Fuel"?

Dangly Bits 26th Nov 2016 09:55

How did he lose the wheel in the first place?

Stanwell 26th Nov 2016 10:43

Erm..
Perhaps he forgot where he put it.

Desert Flower 27th Nov 2016 01:59

You picked a fine time to leave him loose wheel - with apologies to Kenny Rogers! ;)

An old aeroplane from Basair - like much of their training fleet. The maintenance service provider will no doubt be having a good long look at why the wheel fell off and hopefully have a look at the rest of the fleet. Makes student pilots a tad nervous.

Ixixly 28th Nov 2016 06:53

Chance, you mean an old aeroplane like the vast majority of the GA Fleet? I'm sure they will, they're an extremely good mob that do the maintenance for BasAir and I've no doubt they'll find out the cause and make sure it never happens again if it was a result of their procedures.

Archerfield contrasts
Basair has a brand new Seminole and rebirthing interior of RQ clubhouse for lectures
Demolition in progress of former Brisbane Aero Engines buildings and Ian Aviation moving out of their hangar

Ian Aviation moving out of their hangar

My information is that Ian Aviation's hangar lease is up with AAC in April 2018 and, like most businesses here at Archerfield, do not wish to continue their association with them. They are moving from early next year out to a new hangar which has just been built at Bradfield Airfield(near Atkinson's Dam).
