I think it is worth mentioning that there is no 'Approval' required. If your ops manual is compliant with CAO 82 and the CAAP you have nothing to worry about.

AKAIK, EFB accreditation also takes iPad mount options into account - Apple publish temp limitations very openly. You need to be able to keep the unit out of direct heating the best you can in order to keep it reliable.

The iPad may very well be consumer orientated, and priced accordingly, but it is approved by the FAA, EASA, CASA, CAA and just about every regulatory body you can name for use as an Electronic Flight Bag in Airline Operations.
Failures would be more likely from ones use of the item, rather than the device itself. However, good advice regarding what happens when it is left to bask in the sun. |
