Fire extinguishers

Hi everyone, can someone let me know where to find the official information about extinguishers requirements in small aircrafts? <5400kg? Thanks.

drpixie 12th Oct 2016 11:15

If you really can't find it, it doesn't exist, so there is no requirement.

If that makes sense, think of one or two aircraft that don't have them - might be a good idea but not required. (However if you do have one, I think it has to be re-weighted every so often!)

Maintenance of Fire Extinguishing Systems CASA AWB. You need one if your aircraft is in charter or if it is standard equipment in your aircraft.

And sorry to be picky, but this is a pet peeve of mine, it is one aircraft, two aircraft ...there is no "aircrafts"

The cabin crew and ground crew use aircrafts a lot and it drives me nuts. Admittedly it is a very short drive but there you go :)

I know I know back in my box.....

You are not alone Snakecharma.

:ok: nice one Snakecharma. You have a long way to go though before your frustration will evoke as much discussion as "I walks the dog";)

Snake; try "would you like some fruits?" on my airline.

It used to drive me nuts too, but now I'm just glad we get the offer...

be cautious with the dry powder type arround aircraft. The powder is very corrosive and difficult to clean out after. You might put the fire out but write the aircraft off anyway.

I think one look at this should remove any temptation to use a DCP extinguisher inside an aircraft.

Are aircraft still allowed to carry BCF type extinguishers?

Ixixly 13th Oct 2016 23:17

YPJT as far as I'm aware Aircrafts (That's right, I said it!) are still exempt from the ban on BCF type extinguishers, all our Aircrafts (Cringe worthy isn't it?) are still using them!

YPJT 14th Oct 2016 14:39

Ixixly,
but does you "enters and backtracks" or is you "entering and backtracking"?

Are we talking dirty or something about runways :)
