Last election, Truss promised to 'amend the Civil Aviation Act' to benefit industry etc.
What did he do? He amended the 'Civil Aviation Act': the TOTAL amendment was to change the number of Board members from 4 to 6.
Check it out yourself.
Boyd apparently said in Tamworth that he would issue exemptions to the industry for non carriage of ADSB. I am only going on what has been posted here in other threads I might add so I could be wrong and he may not have said that he would give exemptions at all.
But, how could a poster on Prune be wrong?
Boyd does not have that authority under the CAA. He could direct the Director but if the Director did not agree and heaven forbid something was to happen given Air Services' contention that non carriage of ADSB constituted an unacceptable safety risk under their SMS, then the CASA chairman and most probably the rest of the Board if they went along with him would be personally culpable.
Boyd now says the ADSB mandate cannot be moved?
I wonder why?
Ministers regardless of the old man Truss or the Hong Kong bar assistant or the new guy, none have and none will change the CAA becasue they did not and do not want to carry the can if the whole thing goes pear shaped and there is an accident.
Same for the other side of politics. Just watch them all, including the CASA board, crab step away from any promise they make to see smiling faces at a meeting.

I have brought this thread up to the front again.

I have received no answer to my letter.

Does this mean the coalition is going to get away to going to the election with no stated policy to help GA?

Has anyone got a hint from Darren Chester as to what his views are about the present dire straights of our industry? I can't find anything on his website that mentions GA at all! Incredible!

At least Nick Xenophon states he will work to stop the $30 million GA ADSB mandate.

Seems amazing that Jeff Boyd can't convince the Minister to have a stated policy to assist GA? I have said before - get out before you lose everything.

Faceballs seams to be where its at at the moment, post the questions on the parties facebook pages! i have posted questions about Electric cars and their infrastructure on a few minor parties pages, and have been invited to write a draft proposal for a policy on electric vehicles for that party...

so, hit up the big ones with the questions you want answered! post link here, and we can all follow it up and make sure it gets attention, dont worry, i will start questioning on aviation towards the Australian Science Party as soon as i finish with a possible EV car policy.
