Cabin Crew Ground School Tips?

Hey all!

I'm starting ground school as a flight attendant for Qantas in 2 months. Somewhat nervous, I've never been in the airline industry!

Not sure if anyone has ever watched Flight Attendant School (American show for Frontier Airlines), but oh my goodness it's intense! Trainees were removed for failing a single test, or arriving to training even one minute late! Are those principles and ground schools the same in Australia?

Can anyone give me some tips, or pointers that I can pre-study/acquaint myself with prior to training? I'd hate to fail! :)

Thanks all!! x

PPRUNE = Doesnt it equal something about pilots and not flight attendants...

Your first priority is to look after the Captain!
Lesson 1 is now complete

Re the testing standard, I hope what you say is true.

Cabin crew isn't rocket science. If you can't pass the tests, then maybe a less cerebral career is in order. And if you turn up late to your course, are you going to be able to turn up on time for work?

If you're worried about it, do a hairdressing diploma at Sunshine TAFE.

If you are asked to do a written test, don't use text speech. :=:E

Having worked for two airlines (Including QF) as cabin crew I can vouch for it.

Some exams you need 100% pass rate, most you need over 80%. Rocking up late is seen as a reflection of your reliability so if you're late without a valid reason they look into it. Ground School is usually sorta boring to be honest, a lot of study and concepts to wrap your head around if you've never worked in the industry before I guess.

Im currently studying to be a pilot full time doing my multi rating and found Ground School for QF more intense. Also make sure you can swim, two blokes from my intake got dropped because they couldn't swim fully clothed for 100m and tread water :P

Tips would be- study, sleep, study and sleep during training. Don't get involved in all the pointless drama that seems to be imbedded in cabin crew life. Don't let passengers talk to you like crap when you start flying and don't eat too many crew meals unless you want to explain to your base manager why you're ordering a larger uniform set 3 months after you started.

Good luck man.

Thanks for the insight! :)
All the best for your pilot training.

You've obviously never shot an NDB approach in the clag on one engine.....

So what part of your pilot training and multi rating have you completed in that week?

Qantas cabin crew training

Don't believe everything they tell you about pilots! :ok: :suspect: :E

framer 5th May 2016 12:16

What Keg said. Every time you come into the flight deck we will be chatting about fishing or golf doing not much, some pilots like to say that we are really busy during take off and landing when you don't see us......it's rubbish. All we ever do is talk about fishing and golf and turn the computer off then on if it plays up, but that never happens.

Could say the same about tug drivers who pretend to be pilots.

Still, while there is a specific Cabin Crew forum under the "Other Forums" group, it is understandable to ask on an Aussie specific forum. Ignore the narky snipes.

Read up on CAO 20.11, Passenger Briefings.

Thanks MakeItHappen! That's exactly the sort of material I was looking for :)
